MORE INFORMATION

Astromech Droid R3-A2 was released in 2009 as a Build A Droid figure during The Legacy Collection. The astromech droid can be seen in various background scenes in the rebel hangar in The Empire Strikes Back.

This was the second time that Hasbro released an R3-A2 astromech droid. The first time, in 2003, the droid was a Toys'R'Us exclusive, and part of a Hoth-themed battle pack. However, the previous version is different from this release in paint application and sculpt. This R3-A2, just like most of the other astromech droids, has 5 joints, a rotating dome, 2 swivel legs, and 2 swivel ankles. The middle leg is removable, so it can be positioned either "moving", or "standing still". All 3 legs have little rolls in them, so that the droid can be moved around. R3-A2 does not have a mechanism where the middle leg moves in and out when the dome is rotated, hence no clicking sounds. There were no accessories of any kind included with this release, and the droid does not have any antennas that can be plugged into the dome.

R3-A2 is kept in a clean, pristine condition without any weathering. The dome is "see-through", and you can spot some painted "cables" and other parts inside the droid's head. All in all, this R3-A2 astromech droid is another well done droid, and a nice upgrade from the previously released version.
