In 2019, Hasbro unveiled the Star Wars Retro Collection at New York Toy Fair with seven figures: Luke, Han, Leia, Chewbacca, Vader, Stormtrooper, and Tarkin. The Retro Collection features faithful reproductions of the original Kenner 3.75" figures from the late '70s to mid-'80s, with a used-looking packaging and modern production markings. To celebrate the launch, Hasbro sent out a media envelope reminiscent of the 1977 Early Bird Kit, including vintage stickers.
Here is a look at Star Wars Retro Collection figures which were sold single carded. The first six figures (Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia Organa, Stormtrooper) were a timed exclusive at Target stores which were released on May 1st, 2019. Only a few months later the figures were sold at several online specialty shops such as Entertainment Earth. On July 18, 2019 Target sold an exclusive Darth Vader Prototype Edition figure at San Diego Comic Con (sold through the Entertainment Earth booth) which was later in August sold through their website and retail stores.
Out of 52 figures released 12 were exclusives, which shows a focus of 23.08% on exclusives and 76.92% on regularly available figures.
If you have purchased one of each figure pictured here on this page when it was released at regular MSRP in the United States, or one of each multipack / convention exclusive, you've spent a total of $567.49. This averages out to $10.91 per figure.
