This U-3PO figure was released during the Legacy Collection's wave 6, which was based on The Empire Strikes Back and released in the first quarter of 2009. The figure has 14 joints, including a ball-jointed upper torso. The droid stands securely on it's own and doesn't require a stand. Even though the figure has 14 joints, they are well hidden, tight and overall well done. The paint application is nicely applied and gives the Protocol Droid a clean, straight-from-the-assembly-line look.
There were no accessories or any weapons included with this figure, but considering that U-3PO is a Protocol Droid and wasn't seen carrying anything in the movie, it'll works just fine without any additional gadgets. All in all, this U-3PO figure is cool, and a great bonus if you purchased the entire wave 6 of the Legacy Collection.
On a side note:
There are two known variations of this figure. The first released and harder to obtain variation is an all silver U-3PO, with the more common version being a duller, champagne colored U-3PO. Hasbro's explanation for the color change was that Lucasfilm had asked them to adjust the color to make the figure more movie accurate. Since the figure was already in production when the request came in, some samples made it out into public hands with the more shiny look. The figure pictured here is the champagne colored version.
There was no packaging text for U-3PO. The figure was a BAD (build-a-droid) figure and could only be obtained when figures with all the individual parts were purchased and then assembled.
