This John Branon figure was released during The Legacy Collection in a Walmart exclusive Evolution 3-pack in early September 2009. John D. Branon ("Red 4") appears in A New Hope, piloting an X-Wing fighter during the Battle of Yavin. The figure is super articulated with 14 joints, including a ball-jointed neck, ball-jointed elbows, a ball-jointed waist, ball-jointed knees and ankles.
The paint application is nicely done, especially the helmet looks great with some light scratches on the front and some light wear on the sides. Unfortunately, Hasbro didn't include any of the details which are seen on both sides of the helmet in the movie. The figure itself is kept in a "clean" look without any dirt or wear on the flight suit. John Branon's chest computer is permanently attached, but the cable running from it can be plugged in and out under his right arm.
If you look closely at the pictures, you'll notice that the right leg is a bit longer than the left, and it is also moved out a bit, giving Branon a slightly different stance than what most of the other Rogue Squadron figures have. He still stands straight, it just looks a little bit different. The figure is almost a head taller than the VOTC Luke X-Wing figure (or any other figures that use that mold), which adds some nice variety when you have all your Rebel pilots lined-up.
The blaster fits very well into both hands, and the helmet fits well over the head with the visor covering his eyes and the chin strap covering the chin. All in all, it's a pretty much flawless, super articulated John Branon figure, which looks great standing next to all the other Rogue Squadron figures.
Rebel Alliance fighter pilots have a legacy of bravery that ultimately carries them to victory against the Imperial forces of the Galactic Empire. John D. Branon ("Red Four") flies in Red Squadron at the Battle of Yavin, losing his life in the attack on the Death Star. Shira Brie joins Rogue Squadron after the Battle of Hoth and gains the trust of her fellow pilots. Jake Farrell pilots an A-wing at the Battle of Endor and celebrates the end of the evil Empire.
