In 2008, Clone Trooper Rys was featured in the very first TV episode of The Clone Wars called "Ambush". Almost one year later, the figure was released in September '09 in a Walmart exclusive 2-pack together with a Clone Trooper Lieutenant Thire figure.
The figure is super articulated with 14 movable joints, including ball-jointed wrists and a ball-jointed waist! Despite the weight of the backpack, Rys stands safely without the need for additional support from a stand. Hasbro included three accessories with Rys, a blaster, a removable backpack and a removable clone trooper helmet. The blaster fits well into both hands, and the backpack can be strapped quite well onto his back. If you own the Ahsoka figure which came with a backpack and Rotta the Hutt, you'll notice that Hasbro made some changes to the backpack. Besides a slightly different paint job, the backpack has now a soft goods cover, which can be plugged into a hole in order to "close" it. Hasbro has also moved the Republic symbol on the backpack further down.
The Clone Trooper's helmet fits perfectly on Rys' head and covers it all the way without any parts of his head peaking out underneath. The paint application is very simple, with Rys' armor being in pristine condition without any dirt or battle damage markings. All things considered, this figure based on Clone Trooper Rys is another 10/10 clone trooper figure. The only thing which is a bit odd is that Hasbro didn't include anything to put into the backpack, so Rys basically walks around carrying an empty backpack ...
Lieutenant Thire and clone troopers Rys and Jek accompany Yoda to Rugosa, where they are attacked by battle droids. Thire urges Yoda to leave them behind and go to the rendezvous site alone, but the Jedi refuses to leave anyone behind. When Rys says their situation is dire, Yoda encourages him to find inspiration in his comrades and himself.
