MORE INFORMATION

This Palpatine figure with mechno chair was released in September 2009 in The Legacy Collection's wave 8, which was based on The Phantom Menace. Palpatine can be seen in holographic form on the mechno-chair while talking to Nute Gunray and other Separatists on Naboo.

The figure has no movable parts, so what you see is what you get. However, it's a nicely sculpted figure, which looks just like Darth Sidious in the prequel movies. The figure is made out of a light blue, purple "see-through" plastic, and if you shine a little light at it from the bottom (or have the sun shine at it), it'll add a glow effect to the figure.

The highlight in this set is the mechno-chair accessory. Palpatine/Darth Sidious has a little hole in the bottom, which plugs nicely into the peg on the top of the chair. The chair itself has a total of eight joints, 4 swivel legs, 2 side-way swivel joints in the front legs, and 2 swivel up-and-down joints in the hind legs. The molded-in pattern, and the paint application on the chair is nicely done with darker and lighter brownish, golden colors. All in all, the entire set with the Palpatine/Darth Sidious hologram figure on top of the mechno chair looks great. The only negative is that Hasbro's copyright is printed on the front of the chair, which is easily visible and can ruin the overall look and feel. This is clearly a design issue, and could have been easily been prevented by placing it anywhere else on the chair but the front. It just looks a bit off when you look at Sidious, and right below him you read "Hasbro China ...". Besides that though, it's a great set, and it'll look great in your Naboo or Separatist set up!
