Clone Trooper Matchstick was released during The Clone Wars Collection in October 2009 and is based on the clone trooper's appearance in the first season of the Clone Wars animated episode "Shadow Of Malevolence".
The figure has 14 joints, including ball-joints in the wrists! Matchstick stands very comfortably by himself without any balancing issues, even with the big Gatling-type gun you can still balance him out if you are patient. The included blaster is a firm fit for the Clone's right hand, but sits a little loose in his right. The clone trooper helmet with attached cables and chest box is a good fit and covers the entire head well.
There isn't much going on in terms of paint applications since Hasbro kept the clone clean without any dirt on the armor. However, the helmet is very well painted and matches Matchstick's helmet patterns from the Clone Wars nicely. Overall, this Matchstick action figure is well done and looks just like what the character looked like in the TV show. If you like clone troopers and you want to add some variety to your republic army of animated clone troopers, or need more pilots, then this one is for you!
Matchstick is a clone pilot in Shadow Squadron who goes on a fatal mission to destroy a Separatist ship. He flies a Y-wing fighter/bomber to attack the Malevolence, a huge vessel armed with a deadly ion cannon. His Y-wing is damaged while passing through a large nebula, a mishap that results in dire consequences for the trooper.
