MORE INFORMATION

This holographic General Grievous figure was released individually carded as a Toys'R'Us exclusive in 2008. The figure retailed for $9.99, and was given out free with a Star Wars purchase of $30 or more. General Grievous can be seen in holographic form in various Clone Wars episodes.

General Grievous is a straight repaint of the previously released General Grievous figure from the basic 2008 Clone Wars assortment. The blueish, translucent colors look kind of cool, especially if you have a little light shine at the figure from the bottom or from behind. However, since it's only a repaint and not a new mold, this figure has the same problems as the previously released Grievous. Some of the problems are very soft and bendable plastic, lack of articulated arms, elbows, knees and ankles, no peg holes in the feet, and the figure has trouble holding the blaster and the lightsabers in the hands.

The overall aesthetics, and the look of Grievous is captured nicely in this figure, especially the height and the wing span with all four arms attached is impressive. However, there is nothing more annoying than an action figure which can't stand on its own, or due to the lack of peg holes can't be placed on a stand. After all, you buy the figure to display it, not to have it lie flat on the shelf.
