This Shadow Stormtrooper was released in a Walmart exclusive 3-pack in 2008 during The Anniversary Collection. The set included two Shadow Stormtroopers and one Emperor Palpatine figure. Shadow Stormtroopers were featured in The Force Unleashed video game.
For this figure, Hasbro re-used the same mold which they used for the Incinerator Stormtrooper figure. The Shadow Trooper is nicely articulated with 10 ball-joints (neck, shoulders, elbows, waist, knees, ankles) and 4 swivel joints (wrists, legs). The only accessory included with the figure was a basic Imperial blaster, which fits well into both of the trooper's hands. On the left side of the Stormtrooper is a non-removable holster, where the blaster can be stowed away. The Stormtrooper helmet, the belt and the thermal detonator on the back are not removable.
The paint application on the Shadow Stormtrooper is well applied on the armor, but looks quite sloppy and uneven on top of the helmet. There is no battle damage on the figure, but there are some very subtle red markings below the left knee and both ankles. Just like the Incinerator Stormtrooper figure, the figure's mold is fantastic without any balancing issues. Overall, if you like the expanded universe, and like your classic Stormtroopers in different colors, you might want to consider adding this super articulated figure to your The Force Unleashed collection.
Among the Emperor's elite shock troopers, the Shadow Troopers utilize advanced cloaking technology to ambush enemies. They can remain completely undetectable until the moment they strike. With keen tactical awareness, the Shadow Troopers can cross Rebel lines undetected and use their stealth skills to gather intelligence that can be used to organize future Imperial attacks.
