This concept Rebel Trooper was released individually carded in 2007 as part of The Anniversary Collection. Chewie is based on concept art created by Ralph McQuarrie for the original Star Wars movie.
The Rebel Trooper has a total of 12 joints. Despite the lack of ankle articulation, the figure stands very nicely without any problems. The trooper's helmet consists of two pieces, which both can be removed. The top part plugs into the bottom part of the helmet in the back, and then leaves some space for the rebel to peak out. The chest armor can also be removed, by pulling it over the head (the head needs to be pulled off first). The blaster fits very loosely into either of the Rebel Trooper's hands, but it's a good fit for the holster which is located on the right side of the belt.
The paint application on the McQuarrie Rebel Trooper is cleanly applied without any smudges or factory errors. There is no dirt or battle damage to be found on the figure. All things considered, this concept Rebel Trooper is a nice figure and a great addition to the McQuarrie concept line-up. It's also nice that you can remove so many different parts and make the figure look quite differently if you wanted to. It also makes a great troop building figure, at least if you enjoy the expanded universe.
Ralph McQuarrieGÇÖs sketches of Rebel troopers show the distinct headgear and simple uniforms that articulate the lean, focused intensity of the Rebel Alliance forces. In his drawings, McQuarrie has captured the RebelsGÇÖ unity of purpose and determined independence that characterize the AllianceGÇÖs proud fighters.
