MORE INFORMATION

Captain Rex in Cold Assault Gear was released individually carded in The Clone Wars Collection in Spring 2010. Captain Rex can be seen wearing the Cold Assault Gear in the first season's Clone Wars episode "Trespass".

The figure has 12 joints, with a swivel joint in the neck, the wrists, waist, and both legs. There are ball-joints in both shoulders, the elbows and both knees. Rex stands nicely by himself, but he does have the typical peg holes in both feet, if you want to use a stand. Hasbro included two blasters with the figure, a Heater Pack, 2 shoulder pads and a blaster rifle with missile attachment. Both hand blasters are a loose fit for either of Rex's hands, but they do fit very well into the holsters. The shoulder pads fit pretty well and stay in place. The Heater Pack needs to be plugged into the back of the figure, where it stays firmly attached. The blaster rifle fits quite well into Rex's right hand and the missile attachment can easily be slit onto it from the front. It adds more weight to the front of the figure, but the figure still can keep its balance. The helmet itself is not removable, but the top part of it is.

The paint job on the Cold Assault Gear Captain Rex is hit and miss. The gray and white body suit is done nicely, but the all-white armor and the bright blue tones look off. Why would both blaster holsters be dirty on the outside, and the rest of the armor be in pristine condition? The patterns on the helmet are done nicely, and seem to match Rex's helmet seen in the Trespass episode. The figure's mold is almost super articulated, only missing adjustable ankles. However, it is nicely done and captures the character's overall look from the TV show very well. All in all, this version of Captain Rex turned out OK. The paint application could have been better, but it's just such a cool looking trooper-design, that it's hard to pass on.
