Astromech droid R5-P9 was available in a Toys'R'Us exclusive 4-pack titled "Battle Over Endor (2 of 2)", and was released in January 2011 in the Shadow Of The Dark Side Collection. The set included R5-P9, Y-Wing pilot Ekelarc Yong, A-Wing pilot Sila Kott and Tie Fighter pilot Lt. Oxixo. R5-P9 was never clearly seen in The Return Of The Jedi, but the droid was supposed to be in Ekelarc Yong's Y-Wing fighter when he was shot down during the Battle of Endor.
The astromech has five joints, including a rotating and clicking dome, which moves an antenna or tool in and out of it. The legs and ankles have swivel joints, which work quite well. The middle leg is removable, so R5-P9 can be placed in a 3-legged or 2-legged position. Both legs on the outside have also rolls in them, so the droid can be moved around. The only accessory included with R5-P9 was an antenna, which can be plugged into the dome. There are no hidden gadgets or panels that can be opened on the droid's body.
The paint app on R5-P9 is very well done, with subtle weathering and dirt on the astromech's body. It's subtle, but it's there and looks nice. Overall, the droid looks nice, and fits right in with all the other astromech droids released to date. If you are a fan of those little droids (and who isn't?), and you are looking for a never-before-done version, then R5-P9 is for you!
Bravery. Skill. Loyalty. These are defining characteristics of the starfighter pilots on both sides of the conflict at the Battle Of Endor. Whether they are Rebels or Imperials, these elite pilots are all focused on the same goal: victory. They are deeply aware that they are deciding the future of the galaxy, and will do everything they can to complete their mission.
