This Geonosian Drone was released in a 2-pack during the Clone Wars Collection as a Target exclusive in February/March 2011. The figure was packed-in together with the Special Ops Clone Trooper and is based on the Landing At Point Rain story arch from the second season of The Clone Wars.
The Geonosian Drone is based on the previously released Undead Geonosian Warrior, which was released only a few months prior. This time, the figure features new weaponry, a different head sculpt, a re-worked chest piece, and a new paint application on the body. The articulation stayed stayed the same with 14 points, which includes a ball-jointed neck, 2 ball-jointed shoulders, 2 ball-jointed elbows, 2 swivel wrists, a ball-jointed waist, 2 ball-jointed legs, 2 ball-jointed knees and 2 ball-jointed ankles. Overall, the Geonosian Drone stands well by itself. The sonic blaster unfortunately fits only very loosely into the figure's hands, but it stands quite nicely behind the 2-piece tri-pod cannon. The skirt on the Geonosian Warrior is loose and can be moved.
The paint application on the Geonosian Drone is well applied with dark greens and subtle dirt on the figure's body. Aesthetically, the sculpt looks nice, but where Hasbro failed is by not including wings, the sting on the back and the spiky chest armor piece. This all wouldn't be such a big deal, if the figure's sculpt wouldn't have holes in it where these pieces need to go. Essentially, this figure is incomplete or can be considered broken. It's a different looking figure compared to the Undead Geonosian, but because of the missing pieces and the holes in the front and back of the figure which have no purpose, we can't recommend adding this figure to the collection.
Clone troopers battle Geonosian drones to stop the production of more battle droids. The special ops clone trooper is a highly skilled marksman. With his DC-15a blaster, he takes aim at the swarms of Geonosian drones that are attacking the republic forces.
