On the first day of Tokyo Comic Con 2019 Bandai revealed new Star Wars action figures in their 5.5" S.H. Figuarts toy line for 2020! Adult collectors can look forward to The Mandalorian and a deluxe set which includes Emperor Palpatine, two Royal Guards and the Emperor's throne. Let's look at the details!
The Mandalorian will be released in May 2020 for 6,600 yen (currently about 60USD), the figure will be a general release in Japan. Bandai will include a blaster, a blaster rifle, a soft-goods cape and exchangeable hands with the figure.
The big suprise is the Emperor Palpatine SH Figuarts figure because it will not be sold individually. It is part of a 3-pack together with two Emperor's Royal Guards and the throne room chair. The set costs 17,600 yen (about 160USD) and it is an online exclusive. Palpatine will come with several different hands, head sculpts, Force lightning, and he'll have an extra set of legs so that he can sit on the throne. The release date is scheduled for June 2020.
If you are unfamiliar with Bandai's S.H. Figuarts 5.5" Star Wars action figure line, know that this line of figures is unavailable in the United States because Hasbro holds the exclusive rights to sell Star Wars figures here. If you are interested in getting those figures you'll have to go through an online speciality shop, Amazon in Japan (for non-exclusive figures), or the secondary market.
