Pre-Orders, 5pm ET, 7/22/2023
Hasbro's San Diego Comic Con 2023 panel took place yesterday, July 21, 2023, and the Star Wars team announced action figures from Star Wars: The Black Series, Star Wars: The Retro Collection and Star Wars: The Vintage Collection. Some of the figures go on pre-order this afternoon already, please have a look at the links above this paragraph.
Leading up to San Diego Comic Con 2023 Hasbro announced a brand new 8D8 and Salacious B. Crumb figure as part of a Jabba The Hutt set. Both figures will be carded with Salacious B. Crumb being released on a mini card (similar to the SDCC 2011 figure). Jabba will come complete with his dais, hooka pipe, railing and various pillows and rugs to sit on. The entire set is fully compatible with the soon-to-be-released Boba Fett's Throne Room playset. Jabba is a HasbroPulse.com exclusive and costs $89.99 and is expected to land on collector's doorsteps in Fall 2024.
Hasbro showed several single carded TVC figures coming to the line-up, including Chewbacca (Life Day) from the Star Wars: Holiday Special! This figure is a ShopDisney.com/Disney Parks exclusive and it'll be available on ShopDisney on November 1, 2023. The price for Chewbacca is $16.99.
With the Ahsoka TV series only four weeks away, Hasbro announced several figures being released based on the Disney+ show, including Sabine Wren (all new) and Ahsoka Tano (a repack of VC222 Ahsoka Tano). This gave us a first look at the TVC Ahsoka logo on the card. Both figures will be released in the mainline this Fall, and while Sabine is part of the Deluxe line-up for $27.99 Ahsoka is part of the basic assortment which costs $16.99.
On the cardback of a figure displayed in the Hasbro booth two additional figures were visible which were not shown during the panel, that was Morgan Elsbeth and an HK-87 droid. It's unclear on what cards and based on what entertainment they'll be released but since they are on the back of another figure's packaging already they should be out this Fall.
Some previously pipeline revealed figures were shown during the panel which included Grand Admiral Thrawn based on Star Wars: Rebels, a newly sculpted Darth Revan and Pre Vizsla from the Clone Wars. All three figures are mainline releases and cost $16.99, pre-orders go live today already, check the links on the top of the page, please.
The troop builder program is going to continue with an Imperial Officer 4-pack which will include two generic officers along with Admiral Piett (with a different ranking badge than before) and Admiral Motti. This set is a Hasbro Pulse/ShopDisney.com exclusive and costs $54.99.
There are some changes coming to the back of the cards for The Vintage Collection. Each character will be given a short introduction paragraph which will replace the preview of other figures in his wave. This will eliminate any showfloor leaks moving forward. The first impression is that it looks less cluttered and nicer than before.
There was an error found on the packaging for the Bib Fortuna figure which will be included with Boba Fett's Throne Room playset, the single carded Bib figure has the VC number 276 which is already given to ARC Commander Colt. So now we have two figures with the same number in the line again, previously this happened with the Incinerator Stormtrooper and the Din Djarin/Grogu 2-pack, where both sets were given VC 177.
The big announcement, and the item the Star Wars team spent the most time on talking about was the new HasLab project which is the Vintage Collection Ghost. Follow the link for the full announcement, but in short, it's $499, it needs 8k backers to be produced, it runs from now July 21 through September 6 2023, it includes Hera and has three tiers which can be unlocked (all figures and members of the Ghost crew). It's an amazing looking vehicle, get all the details here.
Pipeline reveals for the Vintage Collection included eight figures, but it is still unclear if some of them will be new or repacks. The figures announced include Axe Woves, Cassian Andor, Count Dooku (finally), a Phase I Clone Trooper, the Mandalorian, Grogu with pram based on season 3, Finn from The Force Awakens and the Mandalorian Fleet Commander. Those will be released in late 2024.
The Black Series 6" line certainly took the backseat this time around and let the Vintage Collection take the steering wheel, a nice change in pace for a while. Previously pipeline revealed were several Black Series 6" Christmas inspired figures and during the Hasbro Star Wars panel we were given a first look at them. Each figure will be exclusive to a particular retailer and cost $27.99, pre-orders will go live closer to Christmas this year.
Hasbro showed some single boxed figures and what the packaging for the Ahsoka TV series looks like. Figures which will come to the Black Series Ahsoka mural line include Ahsoka Tano (a straight repack of this figure), Sabine Wren and Hera Syndulla. Even though all three figures look good, a little extra in the box for Ahsoka would have been nice to see. R2-D2 will be released in Mandalorian packaging, it's a repack of the ROTJ 40th anniversary figure. And that's it, 6 repaints for the Holidays, 2 straight repacks in the basic assortment and two new figures announced for the Black Series line, and at $24.99 each (once you add tax/shipping close to $30) the lack of newness is very disappointing.
Pipeline reveals for the Black Series 6" line included Cal Kestis in Inquisitor armor, the 2nd Sister, a Purge Trooper, a Droideka and C-3PO on a Battle Droid body from Attack Of The Clones. Look for those figures to make their debut in late 2024.
The 40th anniversary of Return Of The Jedi continues with a 6 pack! The set will include remakes of Kenner favorites such as the Gamorrean Guard, Yak Face, Emperor's Royal Guard, Wicket and Admiral Ackbar. The star in this set is of course Mon Mothma, a character Kenner never made in the 1980s and she looks wonderful in her 5poa simplicity! The set will cost $72.99 and is exclusive to HasbroPulse.com and ShopDisney.com.
Pipeline reveals for the Retro Collection included six figures from the Phantom Menace! Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Maul, Queen Amidala (red gown), Jar Jar Binks and a Battle Droid! Nice!
That's it for now ... thanks for reading and once more information becomes available about the figures it'll be posted on the main page. The database will be updated with all the announcements in the coming hours/days.
