Launched on November 12, 2019, The Mandalorian TV series garnered widespread acclaim just over four years ago. Since then, Hasbro has unleashed an extensive array of action figures, vehicles, playsets, and accessories inspired by the show. With three seasons now in the books, let's retrospectively explore the initial four years of collecting Mandalorian figures and vehicles from our beloved 3 3/4" Star Wars: The Vintage Collection.
The initial two seasons of The Mandalorian TV series have received comprehensive coverage in The Vintage Collection by Hasbro. This includes a remarkable lineup of 32 single-carded figures in the basic assortment and as exclusive pack-ins, along with eight figures in the carbonized assortment. Additionally, collectors received five deluxe figures, five vehicles (highlighted by the $349.99 Haslab Razor Crest), one playset, and an exclusive convention multipack.
Despite The Mandalorian season 3 having been available for nearly a year, the anticipation lingers as we await Hasbro's announcement and release of characters from the latest season. When reflecting on the first two seasons however, it is clear that Hasbro has brought forth a significant number of figures. Nonetheless, there are still some figures from the first two seasons which we'd like to see added to the Vintage Collection:
The deluxe sets in the Vintage Collection are fantastic when they include world-building environment parts such as the Heavy E-Web Cannon or the Dark Trooper's charging compartment. Another addition to the line which would be great to see is the addition of creatures, and in the case for the Mandalorian it would be great to see some Blurgs.
When it comes to vehicles Hasbro has done an amazing job in the first four years, especially the Haslab Razor Crest and the N-1 Starfighter have turned out to be fantastic. A newly sculpted Speeder Bike with Scout Trooper was a stand-out release in 2024 and the Imperial Troop Transport is a cool centerpiece with some Stormtroopers standing around. The one vehicle we would like to see being released in the future is Moff Gideon's TIE Fighter with foldable wings, and why not repaint an X-Wing Fighter and release it with a carded Trapper Wolf figure?
All in all Hasbro has done a great job for the first four years and the first two seasons of the Mandalorian tv series, especially when you keep in mind that Lucasfilm also released the Book Of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, Kenobi and the Bad Batch tv series. Let's hope Hasbro keeps up and fills some gaps in 2024 and beyond for the Mandalorian and starts releasing some characters from season 3!
