Star Wars Insider Magazine to End in 2026

11/10/2025 Star Wars Insider

Star Wars Insider — the official Star Wars magazine that evolved out of the original Lucasfilm Fan Club Magazine and even further back to the 1978 Official Star Wars Fan Club — will publish its final issue in early 2026, with issue #237 marking the end of the current run, according to the official announcement on StarWars.com.

For Star Wars action figure collectors, especially in the early and mid 1990s, Star Wars Insider was more than just a magazine — it was the primary way to stay informed. At a time when many fans did not yet have reliable access to the internet, the magazine regularly highlighted new Star Wars figures, upcoming products, behind-the-scenes features, and even collector-focused columns. Steve Sansweet’s collectibles column became essential reading, and for a lot of us it was simply the number one source of Star Wars collecting information.

Over the decades, Star Wars Insider carried some remarkable collecting content: in the late 2000s there was a great two-part interview with the Star Wars brand team, and more recently the magazine ran a very nice feature with Hasbro Star Wars design director Steve Evans talking about the making of a Star Wars action figure. Those articles — and the overall tone of respect toward collectors — are exactly the kind of material that will be missed once the magazine is gone.

StarWars.com notes that changing publishing habits and the move to a more digital era are major reasons for bringing the magazine to a close, after decades of continuous publication through different license holders, most recently Titan.

What remains unclear right now is how individual Star Wars fan clubs in different countries will react. In Germany, for example, the magazine started life as a fan-driven publication before it became fully official — so it’s possible that we’ll see some clubs return to locally produced, local-language magazines to keep that community feeling going. That will be something to watch in 2026.

Here on GalacticFigures.com we’ll continue to follow any developments related to the future of the Star Wars Insider brand, international fan club magazines, and especially any collector-focused features that might find a new home online. If Lucasfilm, Titan, or any regional fan organizations announce successor publications — digital or print — we’ll report on it.

Losing Star Wars Insider is the end of a very specific era in Star Wars collecting: the era when news about a brand-new 3 3/4" figure, a mail-away offer, or an upcoming Hasbro wave first hit your mailbox, not your phone. That history matters — and a lot of collectors will miss it.
