Disney's Build-A-Droid Series Continues On September 4, 2026

Disney has announced that the next release in its 2026 Build-A-Droid series will be an R2-D2 figure inspired by Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

This version differs from previously released 3 3/4-inch R2-D2 figures with newly painted details on the dome and warning stripes along the outside of both legs. The figure will also include a component needed to build RX-01. The figure is now added as part of the "officially announced" in the Star Tours/Droid Factory section so that you can add it to your wish list. 

The figure is based on R2-D2's appearance as part of D-Squad, which was featured in a four-episode arc during Season 5 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars:

Season 5, Episode 10 - "Secret Weapons"
Season 5, Episode 11 - "A Sunny Day in the Void"
Season 5, Episode 12 - "Missing in Action"
Season 5, Episode 13 - "Point of No Return"

D-Squad consists of R2-D2, QT-KT, U9-C4, M5-BZ, and WAC-47, with the group led by Colonel Meebur Gascon.

R2-D2 is expected to retail for $19.99 and will be available exclusively at Disney Parks and DisneyStore.com beginning Friday, September 4, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time.

This will be the third release in the series 2 for 2026, with three additional droids expected to follow. Collecting all six figures will provide the necessary parts to assemble a never before made 3 3/4" droid RX-01.
