A Closer Look At The 2020 Black Series Wampa

10/28/2020

This article gives you a look at the Hasbro Pulse Con 2020 exclusive Black Series 6" Wampa, and it shows you the differences in the paint application between the 2020 release and the Hasbro Black Series 6" Wampa from 2015. The 2020 Hasbro Pulse Con exclusive Wampa was released in a beautiful Kenner-inspired foil packaging on September 23, 2020 on HasbroPulse.com, two days before the start of the online convention. The Wampa cost $29.99 and was limited to one purchase per person.

No assembly is necessary; just open the box and remove the Wampa. The right arm of the Wampa is detachable, and despite Hasbro's addition of red paint to simulate blood, it appears rather simplistic.

You can see on the following pictures that the 2015 and the 2020 sculpts are identical, only the paint application was changed on the creature. The most noticeable distinctions include the absence of blood on the fur and the darker coloration of the nails and palms in the 2020 version.

Here is a look at the different packaging, the original 2015 Wampa was packed-in together with a Luke Skywalker (Hoth), the 2020 Wampa was sold by itself.

Both Black Series Wampas pictured here had stiff limbs and were strong enough to lift a Black Series 6" figure in the air without giving in. It's nice that Hasbro switched up the paint application for the 2020 release, this way both Wampas add a bit of a variety to the display shelf. They are both well worth adding to the collection.
