Released in 2018 for $79.99, the Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Imperial Combat Assault Tank gave Star Wars fans one of the most impressive 3.75-inch scale vehicles from Hasbro’s modern Vintage Collection lineup. Based on the tank seen during the memorable Jedha action sequence in Star Wars: Rogue One, this vehicle immediately stood out because collectors finally had a 3.75-inch scale version of one of the movie’s most recognizable Imperial ground vehicles.
For the longest time, many collectors referred to it as a Hovertank, and interestingly, the included instruction sheet calls it the Imperial Assault Hovertank. The packaging, however, identifies it as the Imperial Combat Assault Tank. Either way, the vehicle does have molded treads underneath, and while the wheels do not roll, the tread pieces themselves can be moved.

The Imperial Combat Assault Tank was released in classic Star Wars: The Vintage Collection packaging, using the Kenner-inspired design language that goes back to the original Star Wars toy line from the 1970s and 1980s. The box keeps that nostalgic collector appeal intact, but updates it with the Rogue One logo and modern product photography.

There is very little assembly required. The Imperial Combat Assault Tank is essentially ready to go right out of the box, with only the cargo crates, kyber crystal canisters, and removable panels needing to be placed or configured.
Assembly should take no more than one or two minutes, but Hasbro still included an instruction sheet to explain the different play features and display options.

The Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Imperial Combat Assault Tank includes side cannons on both sides of the vehicle, and each cannon can swivel 360 degrees. This gives the tank a more dynamic look when displayed from different angles.
The rear cargo bed, similar to the loading area of a truck, includes two removable covers. These panels can be displayed closed, or removed to reveal the cargo area underneath. One, two, or all three orange cargo crates can be placed in the back, or the space can be left open for Imperial troops.

Two of the orange cargo crates are identical and do not open. The third cargo crate includes opening panels, and inside are three slots for the included kyber crystal canisters. Each smaller kyber crystal canister can also be opened, revealing the crystals inside. This is a great Rogue One-specific detail, since the Empire’s mining of kyber crystals on Jedha is such an important part of the movie’s story.
The tank also includes an opening top hatch where an action figure can stand and look out over the battlefield. The cockpit opens as well and comfortably seats two 3.75-inch figures. Inside, the cockpit is nicely detailed, including painted control screens that add a welcome bit of realism.

Another standout feature is the removable side panel, which reveals mechanical detail underneath. It gives the Imperial Combat Assault Tank a more layered, realistic feel and adds another display option for collectors who enjoy showing off the inner workings of Star Wars vehicles.

The paint application on the Imperial Combat Assault Tank is excellent. In fact, this is one of the best-painted vehicles Hasbro released in The Vintage Collection. The weathering, dirt, and worn-down finish make the tank look like it has actually been used on the streets of Jedha.
The sculpted detail is strong throughout the vehicle, with panels, mechanical sections, hatches, vents, and surface texture all helping the tank feel authentic to Rogue One. The overall paint work gives it a gritty, screen-inspired look that works beautifully on display.
A fun little detail on Hasbro's Star Wars The Vintage Collection Imperial Combat Assault Tank is easy to miss: the sculpted coffee mug built directly into the vehicle. It is a tiny touch, but it shows how closely Hasbro studied the Rogue One source material when translating the Imperial tank into 3.75-inch scale. Casual collectors might overlook it, but once you spot it, it becomes one of those fun screen-inspired Easter eggs that makes the vehicle feel even more authentic.

From a collector’s point of view, the Imperial Combat Assault Tank is a fantastic display piece. Hasbro noted that the rear cargo area fits four figures, but you can comfortably place more than that inside. We were able to fit six figures in the back, and it still looked good without feeling overcrowded.

The different configuration options are what really make this vehicle shine. You can display it with all three cargo crates, just one or two, none at all, or fill the cargo bed with Stormtroopers and tank drivers. If you own more than one Imperial Combat Assault Tank, each one can be displayed differently on the shelf, which gives it a lot of visual variety.
The Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Imperial Combat Assault Tank is an outstanding Rogue One vehicle for the 3.75-inch action figure line. Between the excellent weathered paint application, opening cockpit, removable panels, kyber crystal cargo, and strong troop-building display potential, this is one of those vehicles that feels essential for Rogue One collectors.

If you are a fan of Rogue One or collect Hasbro’s 3.75-inch Star Wars action figures, this is a vehicle that is very hard to skip. It looks great, it offers multiple display options, and it captures the gritty Imperial presence from Jedha beautifully.
