Thank you for joining us for a closer look at Hasbro's Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Rebel Armored Snowspeeder vehicle. This Snowspeeder was released in 2010 in two different packaging styles: The Vintage Collection packaging, which was exclusive to Target stores, and the Shadows of the Dark Side packaging, which was available at regular retail. The Target-exclusive Vintage Collection version originally sold for $24.99.

Packaging

The packaging for The Vintage Collection Rebel Armored Snowspeeder looks fantastic and captures the classic Empire Strikes Back presentation beautifully. The box design feels very much inspired by the original 1980s Kenner era, when The Empire Strikes Back was in theaters and Star Wars toys had that unmistakable vintage shelf presence.

The front of the box features photography of the Rebel Armored Snowspeeder along with several Star Wars action figures posed around the vehicle, giving collectors a great look at how it can be displayed. For fans of The Vintage Collection, this style of packaging is a big part of the appeal, especially for a vehicle tied so closely to the Battle of Hoth.

There was no action figure included with this release, so the box included the vehicle, accessories, stickers, and instructions only.

Assembly And Stickers

Once the Rebel Armored Snowspeeder is removed from the box, there are a few quick setup steps before it is ready for display. The vehicle comes mostly assembled, but collectors will need to apply the sticker sheet first. Most of the stickers are placed inside the cockpit, and the process should only take around 10 minutes.

Assembly is very minimal. The main body of the Snowspeeder is already put together, and collectors can choose between different display options for the rear harpoon and the side-mounted laser cannons.

Action Features And Movie Accurate Options

One of the best things about this Vintage Collection Snowspeeder is that Hasbro included both action-oriented parts and more movie-accurate display parts. For play features, the vehicle includes a rear harpoon that can fire a missile, along with larger side laser cannons that can shoot missiles from the front of the vehicle.

For collectors who prefer a more accurate Empire Strikes Back display, Hasbro also included a smaller rear harpoon that is more appropriately scaled to the movie appearance. The side laser cannons can also be swapped out for thinner, non-firing cannons that look more accurate than the missile-firing versions.

This gives the Rebel Armored Snowspeeder two very different display options: one with more action features and one that looks cleaner and closer to the movie.

Cockpit And Figure Fit

The cockpit canopy is removable, which makes it easier to place figures inside the vehicle. The cockpit is large enough to hold two regularly sized 3.75-inch Star Wars action figures, and the pictures for this article show Luke Skywalker and Dak Ralter from The Vintage Collection seated inside.

The figures fit nicely in both seats. The rear gunner seat in particular includes two controls that the figure can hold onto very well, which helps make the cockpit display look more natural. The seats inside the cockpit are also nicely detailed, adding to the overall quality of the vehicle.

Vehicle Features

The Rebel Armored Snowspeeder includes several well-integrated features that make it fun to handle and display. On the bottom of the vehicle there is a landing strut that can be pulled out, giving the ship more stability when placed on a shelf.

There is also an opening hatch on the bottom rear of the vehicle, which can be used as a small storage compartment. On each side of the hull, two flaps can open, recreating the look of the Snowspeeders banking and maneuvering during the Battle of Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back.

Another especially cool feature is the removable side panel. One of the laser cannons can be taken off, which then allows the side panel to be removed and reveals the mechanical details underneath. Once the panel is removed, the laser cannon can be reattached, giving collectors the option to display the Snowspeeder with exposed inner workings or with the panel fully covered.

Sculpt And Paint

The sculpt of the Rebel Armored Snowspeeder looks excellent. The shape of the vehicle, the details worked into the hull, the cockpit interior, and the mechanical panel details all help make this one of the stronger 3.75-inch scale Star Wars vehicles from Hasbro's 2010 lineup.

The vehicle has scuffs and scratches worked into the hull, but overall it is still a fairly clean-looking Snowspeeder. The weathering is present without making the vehicle look overly dirty, which gives it a nice balance between toy-like presentation and screen-inspired detail.

Final Thoughts

All things considered, Hasbro's 2010 Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Rebel Armored Snowspeeder is a fantastic vehicle. The scale looks good with 3.75-inch Star Wars action figures, the cockpit fits Luke Skywalker and Dak Ralter nicely, and the vehicle includes a strong mix of play features and collector-friendly display options.

Even many years after its original release, this Snowspeeder is still very easy to recommend. If you are a fan of The Empire Strikes Back, especially the Battle of Hoth sequence, then the Rebel Armored Snowspeeder deserves a spot in your Star Wars collection.

Thank you for reading, and happy collecting!
