Hasbro released an all-new Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Bantha as a Hasbro Pulse exclusive in the fall of 2025 for $69.99. Designed from the ground up for the modern 3.75-inch collection, the TVC Bantha features an articulated mouth, adjustable legs and ankles, a poseable tail, removable saddle and an exclusive Tusken Raider figure on a unique Vintage Collection cardback.
THE VINTAGE COLLECTION BANTHA PACKAGING
The Star Wars The Vintage Collection Bantha comes packaged in a beautiful double-racetrack box inspired by the original Star Wars: A New Hope packaging from the late 1970s. The presentation immediately gives the set a strong nostalgic appeal and looks great even before the Bantha is removed from the box.
There is virtually no assembly required. There is no instruction sheet, there are no stickers to apply and there are no small parts that need to be attached. Simply open the box, remove the Bantha from the plastic packaging and it is essentially ready for display.
The only significant removable piece is the saddle. This means collectors can display the creature fully equipped with a Tusken Raider or remove the saddle entirely for a more natural appearance. That option is particularly useful if you want to purchase several Banthas and create an entire Bantha herd for a Tatooine diorama.
THE TVC BANTHA
The Bantha looks impressive in person. While its overall appearance remains recognizable compared with previous Hasbro Bantha releases, this version is an all-new interpretation built from the ground up with improved sculpting and additional articulation.
One of the biggest upgrades is the articulated mouth, a feature not found on previous Hasbro Banthas. The mouth can be opened to reveal sculpted teeth and the large interior of the creature's mouth. There are no additional joints or mechanisms involved, so the feature is straightforward: the mouth can simply be displayed opened or closed.
All four legs can swivel backward and forward. The legs themselves are not ball-jointed, but Hasbro added ball-jointed ankles to all four feet. Adjusting the ankles helps compensate for the relatively simple leg articulation and gives collectors some additional control when positioning the Bantha.
The tail contains an internal wire and can also be repositioned. The range is somewhat limited, so don't expect extreme poses, but the tail can be gently bent and will retain the position it is placed in.
THE BANTHA'S FUR AND PAINT APPLICATIONS
The sculpted fur is one of the strongest aspects of the figure. Hasbro used different shades of brown across the Bantha, with noticeably darker coloring around the head that transitions into lighter browns across the body and tail. The variation helps bring out the sculpted texture and keeps such a large creature from looking flat.
The face is particularly well done. The horns have been painted nicely, and the combination of the facial sculpt, paint applications and articulated mouth gives this Bantha considerably more personality than some of its predecessors.
Overall, the creature looks excellent.
REMOVABLE BANTHA SADDLE
The saddle can be completely removed from the Bantha and features numerous sculpted pouches, bags and pieces of equipment. None of these smaller items are removable because they are permanently sculpted onto the saddle.
Interestingly, the strap underneath the Bantha can be secured at different positions, allowing collectors to fit the saddle either somewhat loosely or more tightly around the creature. It's an unnecessary feature, but it gives you some flexibility when attaching the saddle.
The saddle is certainly detailed enough from a sculpting standpoint, but it looks a little too clean. Some additional weathering, dirt and painted details on the various pieces of equipment would have complemented the Bantha's excellent appearance and made the entire setup feel more at home in the dusty environments of Tatooine.
THE INCLUDED TUSKEN RAIDER
Hasbro included a super-articulated Tusken Raider with the TVC Bantha, and the figure is presented separately on a unique Vintage Collection cardback. It makes for the perfect companion figure and fits very well on top of the Bantha's saddle.
The saddle also has enough room to accommodate two 3.75-inch figures. With some careful posing, characters can be positioned behind one another without much difficulty.
This opens up some fun display possibilities beyond A New Hope. Fans of The Book of Boba Fett, for example, can place Boba Fett and Fennec Shand together on the Bantha to recreate their travels across Tatooine.
IS THE VINTAGE COLLECTION BANTHA WORTH IT?
Absolutely. The Star Wars The Vintage Collection Bantha doesn't radically reinvent the appearance of the creature, but it improves upon previous releases in meaningful ways. The more detailed facial sculpt, articulated mouth, ball-jointed ankles and poseable tail make this the most versatile Hasbro Bantha released for the 3.75-inch collection.
The removable saddle is another welcome feature, particularly for collectors interested in building a Bantha herd, while the exclusive super-articulated Tusken Raider and unique cardback add significant value to the overall set.
There are areas where Hasbro could have gone further, particularly with the paint and weathering on the saddle, but those shortcomings don't outweigh what works here. We would have also liked to see a second saddle included here with explosives attached, so that some of the scenes the Banthas were in could have been recreated from the first episode of the second season of the Mandalorian TV series.
Can we recommend adding the TVC Bantha to your collection? Absolutely, and without hesitation. If you can find one at a price that fits your collecting budget, it's well worth picking up. You get an updated and more articulated Bantha, an exclusive Tusken Raider on a unique Vintage Collection cardback, and fantastic 1970s packaging that looks impressive on display in its own right.
