This Hoth Rebel Trooper was released during The Legacy Collection in May of 2009. Originally, Hasbro intended to release two different versions of this figure during The Legacy Collection, with two different head sculpts. Unfortunately this never happened and Hasbro only released the first version with a beard. However, when this figure was released, a factory error had happened and some figures were released without a soft goods skirt on it.
So, there are two known variations:
The Hoth Trooper is super articulated with 14 joints, which allows you to position him in almost any way you want. There were 4 accessories included with the figure: a blaster, a removable hat, a two-piece stand-alone cannon, and an attachable backpack. The blaster fits perfectly into the holster and into both hands. The backpack can be plugged firmly into the trooper's back and the rebel's hat fits nicely on the head. Hasbro included the typical peg holes in the feet, and even though the Hoth Trooper's stance is a bit wide, he can stand safely without the need of a stand.
You won't find any extraordinary paint application on the figure, but the clean look works well nonetheless. This figure is a good example of how Hasbro has learned from past mistakes. For example, the holster has a little slit in the front where the scope of the blaster fits in, which makes it possible to put the blaster in all the way. The backpack's plug goes into the figure deeper than seen in other figures before, and because of this, it sits tighter and more firm. Overall, you'll be pretty pleased with this release, it's definitely one of the better Hoth Rebel Troopers released, if not the best Hoth Rebel Trooper so far as of 2009.
To withstand HothGÇÖs brutal climate, Rebel troopers wear polarized snow goggles, insulated jackets, heavy boots and white helmets. They also make adjustments to their weapons to ensure their blasters and cannons function in the subzero conditions.
