This Hoth Rebel Soldier was released in the The Power Of The Force 2 deluxe line in 1997. The pack-in accessory was an Anti-Vehicle Laser Cannon. Hoth Rebel Troopers can be seen during the Battle Of Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back.
The figure has swivel joints in the neck, shoulders, the waist and both legs. The figure's stance gives enough balance, so that it can stand on its own. Besides the Anti-Vehicle Laser Cannon, Hasbro included a backpack with the figure, which can be plugged into a hole in the back. The goggles and the blaster are molded into the figure and can't be removed.
The paint job on the Hoth Rebel Soldier is very basic with no weathering or dirt on the figure. The sculpt, with its Schwarzenegger-like physic is outdated, and it's strange to see a blaster being molded into the figure, instead of Hasbro including one for the figure to hold. If you are looking to add some variety to your Hoth Rebels, or need a background character for a Hoth display, then this Hoth Rebel Soldier is a good option, but if you are looking for a definite version of this character, you can easily pass.
Kenner didn't provide a bio for the character on the packaging.
