MORE INFORMATION

This Protocol Droid I-5YQ figure was released as a Walmart exclusive in August 2009 together with a Darth Maul figure. The droid is based on the Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter novel. I-5YQ came with a Jedi Holocron which fits quite well into a secret compartment in the front of the droid's chest. The figure has 13 joints, only lacking a waist joint.

The Protocol Droid's head is slightly different from regular Protocol Droids in that it features a short, non-removable antennae on the top left of the head. It's unclear as to how accurate this is when compared with the illustrations from the novel because the head seems to also have a slightly different shape. The neck for example seems to be missing an extra screw sticking out which was clearly seen in the illustrations.

The paint application is nicely done, it gives the droid a dirty and used appearance, without over doing it. I-5YQ stands very safely on his own and doesn't need additional help from a stand. You might notice the red finger on the left hand, which is the droid's laser finger. It would have been much better if Hasbro would have used a hand with a pointing index finger instead of a regular, closed hand. All in all, I-5YQ is an average Protocol Droid and if you are a fan of the expanded universe or the Shadow Hunter novel, you might want to consider picking this figure up!

PACKAGING TEXT

In the novel Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter, the Sith apprentice goes after an information broker who knows too much about a plan to destroy the Republic. The broker's modified protocol droid I-5YQ is left without an owner after the deadly outcome between his master and Darth Maul.
