MORE INFORMATION

This Cortosis Super Battle Droid figure was released as a Walmart exclusive in August 2009 together with an Anakin Skywalker figure. The Battle Droid is based on Star Wars: The New Droid Army video game, which was released for Nintendo's Gameboy Advanced on November 14th, 2002. The figure has 9 joints, missing wrist and ankle articulation. Due to the droid's design, the head can't be moved. The droid stands surprisingly well on it's own, even despite the thin legs and loose leg joints. Hasbro gave the droid the typical holes in the feet, so you can place him on a stand should you encounter any balancing issues.

The most interesting aspect of this figure is unique paint application. The black markings on the chest armor are cleanly applied and make this droid different from any other released Super Battle Droid so far. The rest of the droid's body is kept in a simple grayish color without any dirt or battle damage. Especially the back is kept in a simple grayish color, which looks a bit cheap. If you look at the pictures, you'll notice that both hands are not hands but lasers, which makes it impossible for the droid to hold any weapons. Hence, Hasbro didn't included any or any accessories. But to be fair, in no matter what source material, these droids have never been seen wielding any weapons other than the built-in weapons.

All in all, this Cortosis Battle Droid figure is an action figure which doesn't offer much. The lack of weapons or accessories, combined with a somewhat lackluster paint application make this figure only interesting if you are looking to add a bit of variety to your Battle Droid Amy.

PACKAGING TEXT

In Star Wars: The New Droid Army video game, Anakin Skywalker must stop the creation of a new battle droid army after the Battle of Geonosis. This time, the Techno Union is creating battle droids with shells made of cortosis, a material that blocks lightsaber attacks, making these droids a particular threat to the Jedi.
