This Nrin Vakil figure was released in 2009, in a Walmart exclusive comic 2-pack together with an Ibtisam figure. Nrin Vakil was never seen in any of the movies and is based on the X-Wing Rogue Squadron comic books.
The figure has 14 joints, featuring ball-joints in the neck, shoulders, elbows, waist, knees and ankles! The only swivel joints are in the under arms and the legs. Hasbro included two accessories with the figure, a blaster and a removable helmet. The blaster fits well into Nrin Vakil's right hand, but sits very loosely in the left. The helmet doesn't cover the entire head due to the alien's head shape, but it snaps-on nicely and is a perfect fit. The paint application in the Quarren's facial area is superb, with very nicely done shades of brownish/reddish colors, which add a more realistic look. The paint job on the helmet is well done as well without any smudges or any colors looking off.
All things considered, this Nrin Vakil figure is another top release. It's a super articulated figure of a character from the expanded universe which has not been released before. If you need support for your X-Wing Rogue Squadron figures, you don't want to miss this one!
Ibtisam and Nrin Vakil seem destined to be enemies: Ibtisam is a Mon Calamari, and Vakil is a Quarren, two species that have been foes for centuries. Yet an unlikely friendship evolves on a mission to Malrev. Ibitsam finds herself becoming attached to the stoic Nrin Vakil, while Nrin's initial animosity turns to respect for the courageous Mon Calamari, proving that the bonds of friendship can rise above the blind hostility of the past.
