MORE INFORMATION

Protocol Droid K-3PO was released in the Defense Of Hoth battlepack during The Shadow Of The Dark Side Collection in October 2010 as a Target exclusive. The set contained K-3PO, a bearded Hoth Rebel Trooper, a non-bearded Hoth Rebel Trooper, a laser tower and an anti-vehicle cannon. K-3PO can be seen in the command center in Echo Base in The Empire Strikes Back.

Just like The Legacy Collection version of K-3PO from 2008, this figure is also based on the droid's appearance before the Imperial attack, whereas The Power Of The Jedi version of K-3PO from 2000 was based on when the attack was almost over (and K-3PO dead).

K-3PO has a total of 14 joints, with the neck, shoulders, wrists and legs being swivel jointed, and the elbows, waist, knees and ankles being ball-jointed. The legs are not ball-jointed, but the swivel joints are somewhat loose, which makes it possible to adjust the stance to the side a little bit. There are absolutely no balancing issues and the droid will likely be save on display without a stand. There are no removable panels on the figure, and there were no weapons or accessories included.

The paint application on K-3PO is well done, with a duller white and a less shiny finish than the previous POTJ K-3PO and Legacy Collection K-3PO. The figure's sculpt is well done, and compared with the POTJ K-3PO, is shorter and less wide. All in all, this K-3PO is very well done and the nicest representation of the character as of this review.

PACKAGING TEXT

The Rebels defend their base on Hoth with every available weapon in their arsenal. They know they can't defeat the Imperial forces attacking them, but they need to delay them long enough to evacuate the base. Rebel troopers blast the enemy from laser towers that ring the base, and fire anti-vehicle cannons and medium repeating blasters at the Snowtroopers and AT-ST walkers.
