Hasbro invited select media outlets to a Hotel in Manhattan this morning to present new Star Wars toys. The presentation included Star Wars lightsaber fx products, new The Black Series 6" action figures, Star Wars Resistance 3 3/4" figures and never-before-seen packaged versions of some The Vintage Collection action figures. Here is what we have learned:
The Black Series 6" General Grievous figure will be released exclusively at Target stores in Spring 2019 for $29.99 in a new Black Series XL line. His arms come apart so that he can be displayed with all four arms stretched out. The back of the soft-goods robe didn't have the skull emblem on it, but this might change by the time it's released (they weren't sure if it's not on the cape because it was a prototype fabric).
The Black Series 6" General Kenobi in his Tartakovsky Clone Wars outfit will be released exclusively at Walgreens stores during Spring 2019.
Hasbro's Black Series 6" archive series will include a re-release of Anakin Skywalker from Episode 3, but this time with the new face printing technology. And just like the first release it will also include a second head sculpt. Yoda will also be re-released and it's the first creature in the Black Series 6" line to feature face printing technology (the very first creature to feature face print tech by the way is the Jabba The Hutt figure which comes with the Sail Barge, but that of course goes with 3 3/4" figures). The third figure shown was the Biker Scout, which is a straight re-release of the Biker Scout with Speeder Bike.
Hasbro also had Jabba's Sail Barge on display and pictures don't do it justice, it looks amazing in person. Expect more videos from Hasbro about its creation leading up to its release in February. They also revealed Princess Leia (in Boushh Disguise) on its card, together with Klaatu, Yakface and the Rogue One Scarif Stormtrooper. Klaatu looks outstanding on the card, especially because there is no warning on the front which gives the artwork more room to breath.
The Vintage Collection Gamorrean Guard will be re-released next year, the packaging and numbering will be identical to the previous release.
A big surprise was the reveal of Star Wars Resistance action figures in the 3 3/4" line which will be available in Spring 2019. It's going to be its on dedicated line with its own packaging. No vehicles were shown.
We'd like to say thank you to Hasbro for inviting us to the event and stay tuned for more coverage from New York Comic Con this weekend! Now make sure to check out the photo gallery (we'll be updating it over the coming days).
