Pricing Continues To Be An Issue

We did not publish a dedicated story about pricing on GalacticFigures.com in October, but it has been difficult to miss the reaction to it online. Every time we post new figure news, collectors voice their disappointment, anger, and confusion about why Star Wars action figures have become so expensive. The Vintage Collection Razor Crest Encounter three-pack costs $69.99, while the Star Wars Rebels three-pack costs $79.99. Those are effectively $70 and $80 purchases for three 3¾-inch figures. New basic Black Series releases are now officially priced at $29.99, adding another increase to an already expensive hobby.

We hear that frustration, and it deserves to lead this month’s recap. Collectors can be excited about the characters being made and still question whether the figures justify the asking price. In the responses to our posts, the conversation repeatedly comes back to cost, often overshadowing the figures themselves. New sculpts, accessories, and packaging all matter, but many collectors clearly do not feel they are getting enough for their money. These are the reactions we see in our own online discussions, and they deserve to be acknowledged alongside the month’s reveals.

Hasbro Looks Ahead To 2027

Hasbro gave us plenty to discuss in October, starting with its October 2 fanstream and continuing with the Star Wars panel at New York Comic Con.

For The Vintage Collection, the fanstream brought updated versions of R2-D2 and C-3PO from A New Hope. R2-D2 is smaller and C-3PO is taller than previous versions, bringing their proportions closer to what we see on screen. Hasbro also confirmed that the smaller R2-D2 will still fit into the droid sockets of previously released vehicles. Hasbro also hinted at shiny versions of both droids later down the road. Both figures are scheduled for spring 2027, with R2-D2 in the first wave and C-3PO in the second. Unfortunately Hasbro was unprepared to show production versions of the figures and only had unpainted prototypes to show.

The Vintage Collection Rebels three-pack includes Season 1 Sabine Wren, Kanan Jarrus in Stormtrooper disguise, and an all-new Season 1 Ezra Bridger. All three figures are individually carded inside a box inspired by the HasLab Ghost packaging. This is the first announced set in Hasbro’s HasLab Halo program, which will provide supporting products for existing Vintage Collection HasLabs. The Rebels set went up for preorder on October 7.

The first Black Series Saga assortment features Queen Amidala, Anakin Skywalker (Padawan), a Galactic Marine, Luke Skywalker (X-wing Pilot), IG-88, and Tessek. That gives us one character from each of Episodes I through VI, with all six scheduled as mainline releases for spring 2027. Queen Amidala and the Galactic Marine are standouts for us.

Hasbro also revealed a new Black Series Stormtrooper with adjustable height. Telescoping sections in its torso, thighs, and upper arms will let you vary the proportions of the troopers in your display. A mainline release will come on a gold 50th-anniversary card, while a Kenner-style card variant will be exclusive to Target, Walmart, and Disney Parks in the United States.

At NYCC, Hasbro followed up with the Vintage Collection Razor Crest Encounter three-pack, featuring Trapper Wolf, Carson Teva, and Frog Lady from The Mandalorian. The Black Series announcements included Agen Kolar, Saesee Tiin, and Zam Wesell, along with a multipack containing the six Saga assortment figures in special VHS-style packaging with slipcases.

Preorders for the Saga figures and VHS-style multipack opened October 15, followed by the Razor Crest Encounter set on October 22 and Agen Kolar, Saesee Tiin, and Zam Wesell on October 29. Have a look at our fanstream summary and NYCC recap for the full breakdown.

Disney’s Droid Factory Gets Ready For Christmas

Disney began October with KP-1 from Obi-Wan Kenobi, the fourth release in its second 2026 Build-A-Droid series. We have added KP-1 to the archive, so you can check out the figure, its accessories, and our high-resolution pictures.

Disney then turned its attention to Christmas with a holiday four-pack containing R5-D33R from 2021, R6-SN0 from 2022, R8-H23 from 2023, and R4-TR3 from 2024. If you missed their original single-carded releases, this set gives you another chance to pick them up.

The new single-carded holiday droid is R2-H26, a Santa-inspired astromech with a red-and-white body, black belt detailing, a gold-colored dome, and a Santa hat. Both the four-pack and R2-H26 went on sale through DisneyStore.com on October 26.

We have already archived all four droids from the holiday set and R2-H26. There is a small detail to watch for in the four-pack: Disney made changes to the feet compared with the original releases. Have a look at the entries before deciding whether those differences warrant another purchase.

Bandai Brings The Star Wars Movie Poster To Life

Bandai announced S.H. Figuarts versions of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia Organa, and Darth Vader based on the original A New Hope movie poster.

These figures give collectors a different take on three characters who have been made many times before. The poster-inspired designs should make an interesting display together, especially with the 50th anniversary of Star Wars coming next year.

All three figures are scheduled for April, 2027 with pre-orders opening in Japan on November 2nd, 2026 at 4:00 pm JST. Keep in mind that U.S. collectors will need to import them (or get them at your local comic book shop who will import them for you) because Bandai is not allowed to sell them officially in the United States.

Halloween And Website Updates

We celebrated October 31 with two collages, bringing together the Black Series Halloween figures from 2022 through 2026 and Disney’s Droid Factory Halloween releases from 2016 through 2026 in two visual guides.

This year’s Black Series lineup includes the Tusken Raider with BD-1, Togruta with a Porg, and Mon Calamari with Skoova Stev. Disney added R2-WRWLF, the werewolf-inspired droid with ears and plaid decoration. The guides also cover the earlier releases and their companions, with links to the individual figure entries. If you are putting together a Halloween display or checking which figures you are missing, have a look!

We also made several website and member upgrades during October. All the figures announced around NYCC were added to the database with placeholder images so you could immediately add them to your wish list or preorder tracker.

The Vintage Collection now has a browsing option for individually carded figures released inside three-packs, beginning with the Rebels set. We organized the 2027 Black Series figures into Basic Assortment, 50th Anniversary Gold Cards, 50th Anniversary Kenner Cards, Figures With Creatures, and Special Releases. The 2027 line also received orange color coding to match Hasbro’s new packaging.

For members, your collection photo can now become the background of your profile banner, with an option to adjust its position. You can also record a target price for each figure or set on your wish list. Printed wish lists now include checkboxes, making it easier to take a list along on a toy run and mark off your finds.

Thank you to everyone who has been using these tools, sharing collection pictures, rating figures, and leaving comments. Your contributions make the website more useful for other collectors, too.

Amazon’s Christmas Gift Book

Amazon began mailing its 2026 Kids Gift Book in October. Star Wars made it into the catalog, but The Vintage Collection, The Black Series, and The Retro Collection did not.

Instead, the selection features Action Verse, LEGO, roleplay products, and Micro Galaxy Squadron. It is a children’s gift book, so the emphasis on toys for younger fans makes sense, but it would have been nice to see some space given to the collector lines as well.

Walmart included Black Series and Vintage Collection products in its Christmas catalog, so their absence from Amazon’s book stood out. It does not tell us how those lines are selling, but it does mean they missed out on this particular holiday showcase from one of the largest retailers in the United States.

Final Thoughts

October gave us a much better idea of what Hasbro has planned for 2027, with new characters, updated versions of familiar faces, and more support for existing HasLab vehicles. Disney kept the seasonal releases coming, and Bandai gave us something different to look forward to with its movie-poster figures. Here at Galactic Figures, we kept working on the member tools and finished the month with a Halloween look through the archive. We hope you found something useful along the way. Happy Halloween!
