This Commando Droid was released as part of the Rishi Moon Outpost Attack battle pack in the fall of 2009. The set included two of this figure, a Commando Droid Captain, and a Clone Trooper Newbie figure. Commando droids can be seen in various episodes, but they played a more dominant role in the episode titled "Rookies" from the first season of the Clone Wars.

Essentially, this Commando Droid is a repaint of the previously single carded released Commando Droid from July 2009. This time around the droid was given stronger colors, for example the gray body color is darker, the golden accents on the arms, torso, shoulders and legs are darker as well. The color of the blaster is now gray whereas the previous released Commando Droid came with a black blaster.

The droid has 13 joints, including a ball-jointed head, and a separately articulated neck joint which can be moved back and forth. The blaster fits nicely into both of the droid's hands, and it can be plugged into the droid's back, so he can carry it around. Thanks to ball-jointed legs, knees and ankles, you can adjust the Commando Droid's stance easily so that he can stand on his own without need for additional support. Overall, it's a cool looking droid, which looks just like it did in the Clone Wars TV show. And since the paint application is different from the previously single carded Commando Droid, it'll look different and add some variety to your droid army.

Commando droids capture a Republic tracking station from clone troopers. The station guards the cloning centers on Kamino that are vital to the Republic. The clone trooper, GÇö all rookies GÇö who man the station are killed or forced to retreat. When two battle-hardened clone officers arrive, the inexperienced troopers join them in a fight to retake the station.
