MORE INFORMATION

This Commando Droid was released in an exclusive Target battle pack in The Clone Wars Collection in October 2010. Besides this figure, the battle pack included Robonino, Shahan Alama and another, different looking Commando Droid. Besides the figures, the set included a bonus DVD with a short Bounty Hunter feature, plus one die, battle cards and stands for each figure. This specific Commando Droid appeared in the Clone Wars episode "Hostage Crisis", from the first season.

Just like the other Commando Droid in this set, the figure's sculpt is based on the in 2009 released Commando Droids (single carded Commando Droid | Rishi Moon Outpost Battlepack Droid). This time however, the paint application is based on the droid's appearance in the "Hostage Crisis" episode, where the base body color was blue, not gray. This figure has a different paint pattern than the other Commando Droid in the battlepack.

The droid has 13 joints, including a ball-jointed head, and a separately articulated neck joint which can be moved back and forth. The only parts on the droid without articulation are the wrists. Hasbro included a droid blaster with the figure, which fits nicely into both of the droid's hands. It can also be plugged into the droid's back, so he can carry it around. It's a good fit, and the blaster stays firmly attached. Thanks to ball-jointed legs, knees and ankles, you can adjust the Commando Droid's stance easily so that he can stand on his own without the need for a stand.

The paint application on the Commando Droid is well done and mimics the paint patterns from the character in the TV show very well. The sculpt is superb, and even though the figure is more on the skinny/petite side, the figure doesn't have any balancing issues, which is great. All in all, it's great that Hasbro took the opportunity and added a different looking Commando Droid in the set and mixed up the paint app, instead of giving collectors two of the same looking droids. It's a well done figure, and a great addition to any Droid Army display.
