This Boba Fett figure was released in 2009 together with Protocol Droid BL-17 as a Walmart exclusive. The figure is based on Boba's appearance in the 1978 Holiday Special cartoon and the 1985 animated Star Wars: Droids TV series. The figure is a re-release of the Holiday Special Boba Fett figure from 2007's Anniversary Collection.
Compared with the TAC release, there are some very minor differences in the helmet's paint application, but unless you are looking for those with a magnifying glass, you won't notice them. While the figure is identical, the weapons are not. Instead of an Electropole, Hasbro included Boba's typical blaster rifle. The basic blaster is also different from the previous release.
The figure is super articulated with 14 joints, and thanks to ball-jointed knees and ankles, you can adjust the position so that the figure stands securely on it's own without the need for additional support. There are some slight intentional scratches on his armor, but mostly the figure is kept in a clean appearance. The paint application overall is applied nicely, be it on the jet pack, the weapons, the black stripes on his shoes, or helmet. Boba's helmet by the way is not removable. The weapons fit well into his hands, and the blaster fits nicely into Boba's non-removable holster. The Jet-pack plugs firmly into the back of the figure and you don't have to worry about it falling out every time you reposition the figure.
All things considered, if you already own the previously released version of this Bounty Hunter you can pass on this release. If you don't own it yet, you might want to pick it up because it's fantastic. You will find that Hasbro has paid a lot of attention to details on this Boba Fett figure which they don't do with every figure. The soft goods cape, the cables running from his right arm into the suit, or the scalps from his enemies hanging over his right shoulder, 14 joints, two weapons, a jetpack and a cool paint job should please fans and collectors alike! Is it 100% accurate and true to the Droids TV show? No, but it's close enough and a cool figure nonetheless.
In the animated television series Star Wars: Droids, The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO, Boba Fett acquires BL-17, a Battle Legionnaire battle droid created to serve Mandalorian Protectors during the Clone Wars. The bounty hunter uses the droid on espionage missions while hunting fugitives.
