MORE INFORMATION

  • This 3 3/4" R5-D4 astromech droid was released single carded in November 2023
  • The figure is based on R5-D4's appearance in the Mandalorian tv series
  • R5-D4 VC303 is the third release in the Vintage Collection for this character, you can learn more about those releases here: R5-D4 VC40 and R5-D4 (Droid Set 3-Pack)
  • For this release Hasbro re-used the popular Legacy Collection build-a-droid sculpt from 2009 which means you can take the astromech droid apart into the dome, two outer legs, one middle leg and the body
  • There are no panels which can be opened and there were no accessories included (no bad motivator here ... move along move along ...)
  • The antenna in the dome can't be removed
  • R5-D4's dome can be rotated and both outer legs and their ankles can swivel back and forth
  • The figure was given a subtle wash on the front and back which looks great in person
  • Both previous R5-D4 Vintage Collection releases had some issues, for example VC40 had missing red stripes on the back and holes on both sides by the legs while the Droid 3-pack R5-D4 was missing the red stripes on the back and had an unpainted blue panel on the front (but fixed holes by the legs)
  • This 2023 release of R5-D4 fixes those issues, it has the red stripes on the back, covered holes by the legs and a painted blue panel on the front
  • It would have been great to see a reworked dome with a bad motivator included (as was the case for the Black Series R5-D4 figure), but since this version of R5-D4 is based on the Mandalorian where the droid appears to have been fixed it wasn't necessary
  • All in all this version of R5-D4 is a slightly improved version of the droid when compared to previous releases and easily recommendable
