• This Retro Collection Sandtrooper was first announced on December 12, 2024, at the Farthest From vintage Star Wars collectors convention in the UK
• This version of theSandtrooper from the 3 3/4" Retro Collection was released as a single-carded figure, included in a 6-pack
• The set was released exclusively through Target stores in May 2025
• The other figures in this set were: Han Solo Stormtrooper, Walrusman, Dr. Evazan, Sandtrooper and the Rebel Fleet Trooper
• The release was surrounded by controversy after Target cancelled all preorders approximately two weeks before the scheduled ship date
• This may have been related to the Trump-era tariffs, during which retailers like Amazon and Hasbro Pulse halted Star Wars figure preorders due to cost uncertainties (though this remains speculative)
• Unexpectedly, some Target stores began receiving shipments, but the set remained difficult for many collectors to find
• For the first time in the Retro Collection Hasbro made the sticker easy to come off on the figure's card, simply pull it off and you will not see glue residue (at the time the figures were released)
• Hasbro included a blaster rifle with the Sandtrooper which the figure can hold well in both hands
• The head can be turned on this trooper!
• The backpack, the orange shoulder pauldron and the ammo pouch are not removable
• The Sandtrooper is a welcome addition to the Retro Collection and a figure which Kenner never got to back in the 1970s and 1980s
• A great figure all around which stands nicely on display without balancing issues
