This Han Solo in Hoth Gear was released with a TaunTaun in The Power Of The Force 2 toy line in 1998. The action figure is based on Han Solo's appearance on the ice planet Hoth, when he ventures out to rescue Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back.
Han Solo has 8 points of articulation, including swivel joints in the neck, shoulders, waist, legs and knees. There are no ball-joints, and no joints in the elbows, wrists or ankles. Unfortunately, Han Solo isn't a good fit for the TaunTaun, and the swivel knee joints don't help much when you are trying to place him onto the saddle, leaving a pretty big gap between the figure and the TaunTaun. The pretty bulky looking blaster looks crooked and to the side when placed in either of Han's hands. When standing by himself without the Tauntaun, Han Solo balances out OK due to the wider leg stance, but if you wanted to use a stand you can't, because there are no peg holes in the feet.
Han Solo's paint application is quite simple when compared to modern times, with only basic brown colors on the clothes, no weathering or dirt. The sculpt is a typical POTF2 sculpt, with big shoulders and a small waist. The pegs from the knee joints are colored differently from the pants, and they show on both sides of the knees, which isn't aesthetically pleasing. All in all, this Han Solo in Hoth Gear is unique and has only been released in this set, but compared with modern times it feels pretty outdated. The highlight in this set was most definitely the TaunTaun.
