This Clone Trooper was released in the Anti-Hailfire Droid Squad battlepack during The Clone Wars collection in August 2010. The set included 4 Star Wars figures, with this figure being in the set twice, plus a Clone Commander and an Aerial Recon Trooper. As of this review, Clone Troopers from Bantha Squad haven't had an appearance yet in the Clone Wars TV show.
The Clone has 12 points of articulation, missing only ankle joints. There are ball-joints in the neck, shoulders, elbows and the knees. The wrists, the waist, and both legs are swivel jointed. The figure does stand by itself OK, but since there are no adjustable ankles, it stands a little shaky. Besides the battle game card, the die and the stand, Hasbro included a blaster rifle with the figure. Unfortunately, the trooper has problems holding it, and it keeps falling out of both hands. Luckily, one of the clones has the blaster rifle attached via a small rubber band, so if you want to display the figure holding the blaster rifle, you'll want to keep the rubber band in place. The clone trooper helmet is not removable.
The paint application on the Bantha Squad Trooper is only average, but cleanly applied without any factory errors or smudges. Since this character has not been seen in the animated TV show yet, we can't comment on how well it compares to the source. However, the sculpt and the markings created by Hasbro fit right in with any of your other animated-style Clone Troopers in the collection. All in all, this Clone Trooper from the Anti-Hailfire Droid Squad isn't as good as it could have been, but it still looks nice on display aiming at your Hailfire Droid!
Hailfire droids present a significant challenge to the clone trooper army. They quickly establish a special squad to fight these rolling devastators. Bantha Squad includes specialists in heavy weapons, aerial recon and demolitions. With these combined skills, the squad can pinpoint these droids and attack them with the weapons and firepower necessary to immobilize and demolish them early in any assault operation.
Clone Troopers: The troopers use a modified version of the Turbo Tank's heavy laser cannon to bombard the droid with weapons fire before the final application of explosives.
