MORE INFORMATION

This Droideka was released in a Target exclusive 2-pack in Fall 2010 together with Anakin Skywalker. The set was part of the Geonosis Arena Showdown series, which started in 2009 during The Legacy Collection, and by Fall of 2010 consisted of twelve 2-packs totaling 24 figures. The figure is based on the appearance of Destroyer Droids during the conflict in the Geonosis arena seen in Attack Of The Clones.

The figure is a re-release, but repaint of the 1999 Destroyer Droid from the Episode 1 toy line. It even still features the 1998 copyright on the back of the figure. Despite its age, the figure holds up remarkably well with modern figures and still fits right in. The figure has eleven joints, including a swivel neck, 2 swivel shoulders, 2 swivel elbows, 3 swivel legs and 3 swivel knee joints. The 3-legged position balances the figure out very well. The only accessories included were two red blast-effects, which can be attached to the front of each laser cannon. They add some weight to the front of the figure, but work overall OK.

The paint application on the Droideka feels a little simple without any kind of "Geonosis" dirt on the legs. However, it's cleanly painted and looks slightly, but noticeably different from the Geonosis Droideka from the same series, which was released together with Master Yoda. The Droideka is an overall good figure, but there is nothing really ne, which would make you raise your eyebrows.

PACKAGING TEXT

The Jedi Knights rush to Geonosis to rescue Obi-Wan, Anakin and Padme from execution. The Jedi brandish their lightsabers against the Geonosian warriors and the massive army of battle droids, super battle droids and droidekas. All hope seems lost that any Jedi will survive this battle, then Yoda arrives with an army of clone troopers. Although many Jedi are lost that day, others survive this climatic battle that ushers in the Clone Wars.
