MORE INFORMATION

This generic Battle Droid was released in a Target exclusive 2-pack in Fall 2010 together with a Rodian Jedi. The set was part of the Geonosis Arena Showdown series, which started in 2009 during The Legacy Collection, and by Fall of 2010 consisted of twelve 2-packs totaling 24 figures. Red Battle Droids could be seen in Attack Of The Clones during the conflict on Geonosis.

The figure features a ball-joined neck, 2 ball-jointed shoulders, 2 swivel elbows, 2 ball-jointed legs, 2 swivel knees and 2 swivel ankles. The neck can also be pulled out, extending the head. The figure stands surprisingly well, despite the skinny legs and loose joints, but it might take a while until you get it to look right. The antenna on the back of the figure is removable and the blaster fits very well into both hands.

The paint on the Battle Droid is applied well, but feels lackluster. The red looks good, and the subtle weathering and dirt on it looks good too. However, more scuffs and battle markings would have been appreciated to distinguish this version more from other released Battle Droids so far. It just feels like it's "more of the same". The sculpt of the figure is pretty good overall, and captures the look these droids had in the movie quite well. The coolest feature on the droid is that you can set it into "sleep mode" and fold it up like it was first seen in the Phantom Menace. All in all, it's a decent figure, but not the "ultimate version" of this character yet.

PACKAGING TEXT

The Jedi Knights rush to Geonosis to rescue Obi-Wan, Anakin and Padme from execution. The Jedi brandish their lightsabers against the Geonosian warriors and the massive army of battle droids, super battle droids and droidekas. All hope seems lost that any Jedi will survive this battle, then Yoda arrives with an army of clone troopers. Although many Jedi are lost that day, others survive this climatic battle that ushers in the Clone Wars.
