Clone Commander Cody was released in a 2005 Walmart exclusive 3-pack, which featured cartoon-style figures of Commander Cody, General Grievous and Obi-Wan Kenobi. The set was released to commemorate the DVD release of the Tartakovsky Clone Wars cartoon series on DVD. Commander Cody can be seen in the Clone Wars cartoon on the volume two DVD.
Commander Cody has only 4 movable parts, including a ball-jointed neck, two swivel arms and a swivel waist. There are no joints in the elbows, wrists, the hip, legs, knees or ankles. Despite the limited pose-ability, the figure stands remarkably well on its on without a stand. The only weapon included was a blaster rifle, which can only be placed in Commander Cody's left hand. The jet-pack on the back of the figure is permanently attached, and the helmet is not removable. The figure's blaster on the front is part of the mold and can't be removed either.
The paint application on Commander Cody is cleanly applied and the orange color looks nice. The figure's sculpt looks close enough to what Commander Cody looked like in the Tartakovsky Clone Wars cartoon, but the very limited pose-ability is annoying, and Hasbro also forgot to add both antenna's on the Commander's shoulders. This figure is more like a statue than an action figure. Despite all the figure's shortcomings though, the cartoon-style looks cool.
