MORE INFORMATION

This Walmart exclusive Holographic Darth Maul figure, from the year 2000, was released in a special packaging together with a light-up base in the Episode 1 collection. Darth Maul could be seen as a holograph next to Darth Sidious, while talking to the Trade Federation in The Phantom Menace.

The figure is one solid block of blue and purple see-through plastic, without any movable parts. The only accessory included with Darth Maul was a light-up base, where the figure can be placed on. When the base is turned on, a small light shines at the figure from the bottom, lighting it up.

The paint application is done quite well and it's cool to be able to look through the figure, which adds a nice "holographic" effect. The sculpt is done nicely and captures the exact moment when Darth Maul stood next to Sidious. It's also great to see that Hasbro made an effort to release a unique figure, instead of just repainting an existing one. We think the lack of joints is fine in this case, because it's very scene specific, and it would never be possible to have a regular, 14-joint figure cross the arms like this. All in all, if you are looking for a Holographic Darth Maul, you might want to consider adding this version to your collection.
