MORE INFORMATION

  • This Luke Skywalker with X-34 Landspeeder was released exclusively during San Diego Comic Con 2017
  • Even though the Landspeeder was released at regular retail during Fall of 2017, an early release, fancy packaging, different paint deco on the Landspeeder and a movable engine, make this San Diego Comic Con release significantly different
  • This Luke Skywalker figure is different from the regular The Black Series Luke Skywalker #21, it has a new head sculpt, a much thinner tunic and a different paint application, take a look at the comparison picture please
  • Even though the belt and the soft-goods tunic could likely be taken off the figure it's very difficult to do, we tried our best to slip the belt down the legs but weren't successful
  • The tunic is removable but if you can't get the belt off it'll be very difficult to get back on
  • Unfortunately the tunic is made out of very thin fabric and you can see Luke's skin through it
  • The droid caller and the pouches on the belt are permanently attached
  • The lightsaber has a removable blue blade
  • The lightsaber hilt can be hung from a hook on the belt
  • The binoculars have a soft plastic flap which can be attached to the belt
  • The rifle isn't a good fit for Luke's hands and he can't hold it up well to aim, but at least he can carry it
  • Luke Skywalker is able to hold the lightsaber and the binoculars tightly in each hand
  • The included poncho looks great and it can easily be put over Luke's head
  • The floppy hat is a good fit
  • Hasbro gave this figure two swivel biceps and double jointed elbows, this way Luke is able to put the binoculars right in front of the eyes
  • There is weathering on the boots, which looks great, but we would have liked to see a more used look on the entire outfit
  • The Landspeeder's hood can be opened, which then reveals the engine
  • There is a small button on the front of the Landspeeder which when pressed will rotate the engine
  • The hood has a small round panel which can be opened
  • The hood also has a sensor (not entirely sure what it is, if you do, please let us know in the comments), which can be rotated 360 degrees
  • Luke Skywalker's rifle can be attached to the right side of the Landspeeder, have a look at the picture here!
  • There are two panels in the back of the Landspeeder which can be opened, the right one is empty and offers a storage solution for some of the extra accessories Luke came with, the left one reveals more engine parts
  • The steering wheel is not movable
  • Luke fits behind the steering wheel, but it's a tight fit
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi fits into the passenger seat, but again, it's very tight and it will take a while to get the figure positioned just right
  • The Landspeeder's windhield can be unplugged
  • Hasbro added a small hole on the back of the Landspeeder where one of R2-D2's sensors can be plugged in for more stability (nice idea, but it doesn't work well, R2's sensor is just too short to plug in tightly)
  • C-3PO can be placed behind Luke, but unfortunately there isn't enough room to fit 3PO's legs in properly (and the legs don't bend enough), have a look at this picture to see how much his butt sticks up
  • The Landspeeder looks fantastic overall, the paint deco matches the real life prop beautifully and even details underneath the hood were painted
  • The seats were given a slightly rustic look (nice detail!) and there are some scratches to be found which indicate that the vehicle has some history and isn't the newest model on the market anymore
  • All in all, this San Diego Comic Con 2017 exclusive Luke Skywalker with Landspeeder set was beautifully designed, from the packaging to the vehicle/figure, and it's a wonderful celebration of 40 years of Star Wars

PACKAGING TEXT

Luke Skywalker was just a farm boy from Tatooine before beginning his training to become a Jedi. Though he would eventually sell his X-34 Landspeeder in order to buy passage aboard the Millennium Falcon, for much of Luke's youth, this civilian vehicle was is only transport between his homestead and outposts such as Tosche Station and Anchorhead, as well as the Jundland wastes, dune sea, and beyond. Luke's Landspeeder may have been past its prime when it came into his possession, but careful maintenance restored its hovering abilities and notable speed to working form. When Luke received Princess Leia Organa's message for help from R2-D2, it was with his Landspeeder that he was able to journey out in search of Old Ben, or as he would come to know him, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Eventually, Luke became an intergalactic Legend through his ties with the Rebel Alliance and his mastery in the ways of the Jedi, but his humble beginnings riding his X-34 Landspeeder across the barren, sandy lands of Tatooine were where this galactic icon got his start.
