Monthly Star Wars Action Figure Re-Cap - July 2026

July 2026 was a big month for us here on GalacticFigures.com. We continued rolling out new member tools that make the database more useful as a personal collecting resource, while San Diego Comic-Con delivered a large batch of Hasbro reveals, preorder dates, exclusives, and a major change to the future of Black Series packaging.

The month also brought our first detailed look at Star Wars: The Experience, a travel exhibition which will be open just in time for the 50th anniversary of Star Wars. Add in Black Series First Edition sightings, a continuation of the build-a-droid Disney Droid Factory series, Halloween figures, and of course the big Kahuna with San Diego Comic Con 2026 and July gave us plenty to discuss.

New GalacticFigures Member And Collector Tools

The most important update for us this month happened right here on GalacticFigures.com. The member features introduced in our New Website Features article have continued to grow, giving collectors more ways to use the figure archive as a personal collecting resource.

Members can now track preorders across multiple retailers (remember, we don't sell figures here), build a wish list, comment on figure entries, and rate their favorite—or least favorite—figures. These features are free, and they turn the database into something more interactive than a collection of pictures and release information. When a newly announced figure enters the archive, members can immediately begin organizing it alongside the figures they already own or plan to buy.

We also updated and highlighted our figure-comparison tool, which lets collectors compare any Star Wars figures in the database and change the viewing angles. More exciting website news is coming shortly, so stay tuned, please.

San Diego Comic-Con 2026

The month’s biggest action-figure event was San Diego Comic-Con. Our SDCC 2026 reveal and preorder hub collected the Hasbro announcements for The Black Series, The Vintage Collection, and Retro Collection, along with preorder dates, prices, and retailer information.

For Retro Collection fans, Hasbro did not unveil individual products, but it did outline an ambitious 2027 plan consisting of 28 figures and three larger items.

The Vintage Collection reveals included a Kenner-colored X-Wing Fighter with Luke Skywalker and R2-D2, along with the Amani Guard, Rotta the Hutt, Imperial Warlord Commander Barro with an INT-4 Interceptor, and continued support for the Battle of Geonosis. Anakin Skywalker, Padmé Amidala, the B1 Battle Droid Commander, Super Battle Droid, and Obi-Wan Kenobi were all shown as part of that Geonosis focus.

The Black Series lineup included a customizable Clone Trooper Load-Out Pack, Embo with his creature companion Keibu, an AT-RT with AT-RT Driver, Rotta the Hutt, Mother Talzin, Gar Saxon, Ahsoka Tano with ARC Trooper Jesse, and several figures connected to Maul: Shadow Lord. Black Series Packaging Is Changing

One announcement deserves to stand apart from the general reveal list: Black Series is receiving new branding and entirely new packaging for 2027.

Hasbro is removing “The” from the line’s name, so it will be branded simply as Black Series. Basic-assortment figures will remain in boxes, but the connecting mural artwork on the sides will be replaced with individual side-profile images of the characters.

Queen Amidala from Episode 1 was the first figure shown in the redesigned 2027 packaging. Hasbro did not announce a price or preorder date for her.

This is more consequential than a routine packaging refresh. The mural format gave collectors a display feature that extended beyond the individual figure, and many movie and television sections remain incomplete after six years. Ending that format now closes the door on finishing those displays, which makes the decision feel mistimed.

We also discussed the convention announcements on Galactic Figure Talk episode 210, giving us a chance to step back from the reveal lists and talk through what the announcements mean for the lines.

Star Wars: The Experience

Star Wars: The Experience - A Journey Through the Galaxy will make its world premiere at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia on February 13, 2027. The 18,000-square-foot exhibition is part of the 50th-anniversary celebration and will run in Philadelphia through September 6, 2027, before beginning a five-year North American tour. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale in November.

The exhibition will feature screen-used artifacts, costumes, droids, creatures, vehicles, interactive galleries, and behind-the-scenes material documenting how the galaxy was created. Announced artifacts include Darth Vader’s costume, Darth Maul’s lightsaber, Grogu, R2-D2, C-3PO, a speeder bike, and original props from Andor.

For collectors, the biggest development is the exhibition’s finale. It will include more than 90 Star Wars action figures, over 20 rare prototypes, development models, tooling samples, and original design materials. The display will trace the work of Kenner and Hasbro from the Original Trilogy through the modern era.

That figure-history component makes this much more than a general Star Wars exhibition for us. Rare prototypes, tooling samples, and development materials are normally scattered across private collections and Rancho Obi-Wan, or seen only in specialized publications. Bringing so much of that material together in an official anniversary exhibition makes this entire event even more special.

The SDCC update expanded on the original July 7 announcement with the first renderings, key art, and detailed descriptions of the exhibition galleries.

First Editions And Retail Exclusives

July brought the second wave of Black Series First Edition boxes to retail: Target aisle displays filled with Black Series First Edition white boxes.

The assortment includes Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios, Embo, the Mercenary Guard Droid, the Imperial Remnant Snowtrooper, and IG-11 (Nevarro Marshal). Zeb was priced at $34.99, while the other four figures were $27.99 each. These First Editions are shared exclusives between Target and Walmart and are produced in lower quantities than their blue boxed counterparts.

The initial Seattle-area sighting also demonstrated how uneven a new retail rollout can be. Zeb was recognized by Target’s system, while the other figures required manual assistance from a manager so that they could be rung up.

Disney’s Droid Factory

Disney’s second 2026 Build-A-Droid series began with Chopper in his yellow Mining Facility Disguise. The figure became available on July 3 and is now documented in the GalacticFigures Droid Factory archive.

Disney then revealed R0-M1 and RJ-83, two droids from Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures. The single-carded set is scheduled for August 7, 2026, at 8 a.m. Pacific Time, exclusively through DisneyStore.com.

The steady release schedule continues to make Droid Factory one of the more predictable parts of the current collecting calendar. The figures may arrive with less publicity than Hasbro’s convention reveals, but Disney has done a good job giving collectors something new to follow throughout the year. If they could only figure out a subscription model so that collectors wouldn't be hit with a $10 shipping charge every time.

Halloween Figures Arrive Early

Hasbro kicked off the 2026 spooky season in July by revealing three new Black Series Halloween Edition figures: a Mon Calamari, a Togruta, and a Tusken Raider.

All three are individually boxed, priced at $27.99, and expected in September through Hasbro Pulse and participating retailers. The Mon Calamari includes a spear and a Sakavian, the Togruta comes with a staff and porg, and the Tusken Raider features translucent “invisible” deco with a tablet and BD-series droid companion.

Disney joined the Halloween activity with R2-WRWLF, the eleventh unique 3 3/4-inch Halloween droid produced for the Disney Parks program. The figure was announced for July 31, 2026, at 8 a.m. Pacific Time through DisneyStore.com, with a final availability reminder posted on July 30.

Archive And Packaging-Art Updates

July was also productive behind the scenes. We updated the Black Series side-panel artwork for Maul: Shadow Lord and The Mandalorian and Grogu, preserving complete high-resolution mural references while that packaging format is still current.

Final Thoughts
