Welcome to the September 2026 edition of our Monthly Star Wars Action Figure Re-Cap, where we look back at the launch of Collector’s Corner here at Galactic Figures, the return of Toys“R”Us with 120 standalone stores, Walmart getting ready for the Holidays, Disney’s latest Droid Factory releases, two exhibitions, and the arrival of Hasbro's Vintage Collection LAAT/i Republic Gunship.

Collector’s Corner Is Open

Collector’s Corner officially opened in September, adding an entirely new community feature to Galactic Figures.

As a member, you now have a dedicated place to introduce yourself, tell other collectors about your collecting interests and post pictures of your collection. You can also browse the profiles and collection photos shared by other members, discover what they collect and get to know more of the people in our community.

Members have already started introducing themselves and sharing their collections, and if you were one of them, thank you! If you haven't shared your collection set up yet we hope you will join them. No collection is too small or too big to share.

As for other website features, we also introduced new filters for The Vintage Collection. If you use the Galactic Figures database to research or organize your collection, you can now filter figures by Special Action Figure Sets, loose and carded releases, carded two-packs and HasLab figures. We also cleaned up filtering by VC numbers and re-releases.

Toys“R”Us And Walmart Prepare For Christmas

If you miss shopping for action figures at a dedicated toy store, the return of Toys“R”Us with 120 new standalone stores is welcome news. The company plans to open the locations across the United States in time for the 2026 Christmas shopping season.

The expansion will give Toys“R”Us roughly 160 standalone locations in total, in addition to the smaller Toys“R”Us shops found inside Macy’s stores. The company has not announced what kind of Star Wars selection you can expect, but we will be watching the new locations as they open and reporting on any noteworthy action-figure finds. The handful of dedicated TRU stores already open feature The Vintage Collection and The Black Series. 

Walmart’s Christmas toy catalog gives you a better idea of which Star Wars products the retailer plans to promote during the Holidays.

If you collect the Black Series, the catalog features the Dogma and Hardcase two-pack. Vintage Collection collectors will find the Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader) and Clone Commander Cody two-pack. The catalog also includes Star Wars LEGO sets, ActionVerse toys, Grogu plush items and roleplay products.

Holiday catalogs used to be way more fun with a plethora of toys in them, but at least Walmart keeps the tradition alive, even in a very reduced capacity. Check your mail box, maybe it's waiting there for you already.

Disney’s Droid Factory Keeps Rolling

If you collect Disney’s Droid Factory and Build-A-Droid figures, September brought you one new release, two upcoming droids and an unexpected preview of another set. The R2-D2 D-Squad Build-A-Droid figure was released and added to our archive.

Disney also announced K1-P from the Obi-Wan Kenobi tv series. The figure is scheduled to be released through the Disney Store on October 2 at 8:00 a.m. Pacific and will cost $19.99.

We also got an unexpected first look at M5-BZ and the tiny Meebur Gascon. Disney has not announced a release date or availability details for that set, but it's likely going to be the first Friday in December. 

You will not have to wait as long for R8-26 from Tales of the Empire. Disney has scheduled that figure for release on November 6 at 8:00 a.m. Pacific and 11:00 a.m. Eastern.

These releases are a good example of what continues to make Droid Factory interesting. The line regularly gives you characters and droid designs that are unlikely to appear in Hasbro’s main 3.75-inch assortment, and they make excellent background fillers for a diorama.

Star Wars Toys On Exhibition

If you enjoy learning about the history and development of Star Wars action figures, The SAGA Museum is heading to Cincinnati Museum Center from March 19 through June 27, 2027 for the 50th anniversary of Star Wars. You will be able to see rare Kenner prototypes and other pieces documenting how the original Star Wars toy line was developed. Opportunities to view original prototypes and preproduction material in person are rare, which should make this exhibition well worth visiting if you can make the trip to Cincinnati.

Collectors in Taiwan had a different type of exhibition to visit in September. Wanwangee’s Hasbro Star Wars pop-up exhibition ran from September 19 through September 30 at the MoFan Formosa Boulevard Mall in Kaohsiung.

If you visited the free exhibition, you could see HasLab projects, a wall of Black Series helmets, six-inch Black Series figures, Vintage Collection releases and other Hasbro merchandise. The exhibition also included Marvel and G.I. Joe products.

The HasLab Republic Gunship Is Arriving

If you backed Hasbro’s Vintage Collection LAAT/i Republic Gunship, your wait may already be over. The HasLab vehicle is now arriving on collectors’ doorsteps and we've been hard at work taking pictures of it, look forward to A Closer Look in the coming days.

Final Thoughts

September was a busy months for us here, but it was pretty quite from Hasbro's side. This likely had to do with last months crazy fall out with Hasbro's Steve Evans and the collecting community lashing out at him. Looking ahead, October is already shaping up to be another busy month for us. New York Comic Con takes place from October 8 through October 11, 2026, at the Javits Center, in New York City with the Hasbro panel taking place on Sunday. We should see some news however from Hasbro on Wednesday before the show starts with an off-site event where they will show new figures.

With Hasbro attending the convention, you can expect us to watch closely for new Star Wars action figure announcements during or around the show. We will share the important reveals and collector information here on Galactic Figures.
