This Qui-Gon Jinn figure is based on a very brief scene in The Phantom Menace, when Qui-Gon Jinn rides back into Mos Espa atop an eopie. The figure was exclusively released as a pack-in together with the eopie and was never available individually carded.
Qui-Gon Jinn is a pretty sub-par figure. It only has 5 points of articulation, and it has a button on his back that when pressed makes the figure "swing" the lightsaber. Action features might be great for kids, but definitely not for collectors. Despite several tries, I was unable to remove the soft-goods cloak from the figure, due to Qui-Gon's hard plastic hair. The paint application looks OK overall, and the figure can stand by itself without the need of a stand.
The Jedi fits perfectly on top of the eopie, and the entire set together looks pretty cool. However, as an individual figure, it lacks details, a better likeness to Liam Neeson, and better articulation. If you are a completest, you'll need to add this figure to your collection, but if you are just looking for a good Qui-Gon Jinn action figure, you can definitely pass on this one.
In 2009, Hasbro updated the Qui-Gon Jinn with Eopie set and made it available via mail-in. Please follow the link for more information about the 2009 Qui-Gon Jinn with Eopie set.
Riding atop an Eopie, Qui-Gon Jinn hauls a T-14 hyperdrive generator to the outskirts of Mos Espa where the Queen's disabled Naboo Royal Starship waits to be repaired.
