This Luke Skywalker figure as Jedi Knight was released individually carded in October 2009 as part of the basic Legacy Collection line-up. Luke Skywalker could be seen wearing his Jedi outfit throughout The Return Of The Jedi.
This Luke Jedi figure was one of the most anticipated star wars figures of 2009, mainly because Kenner/Hasbro has never released a super articulated version of this character in his Death Star II outfit until now. This version of Luke has 14 joints, including ball-joints in the neck, both shoulders and elbows, the waist, knees and ankles. There are no balancing problems thanks to ball-jointed knees and ankles. One thing that Hasbro did very well with this figure is the head sculpt. Past Luke Skywalker figures have suffered from more or less inaccurate faces to kind of looks like Marc Hamill head sculpts. This time however, it's spot on and looks like Luke Skywalker the way he appeared in Return Of The Jedi.
The paint application is cleanly applied, especially the eyes, the face and the hair color are well done. Hasbro included Luke's green lightsaber (hero version) and binders with the figure. The lightsaber fits well into each of Luke's hands. The binders fit around Luke's wrists, but they don't close all the way and leave a gap on each side. Besides the gap, they also feel a bit bulky, but that's probably as good as it gets in this scale. Besides binders and a lightsaber Hasbro included a different and exchangeable chest plate with Luke, which shows Luke's white shirt underneath. This way you can have Luke displayed on your shelf before he was attacked by Emperor Palpatine with force lightning, or after wards. The chest plate plugs into a hole in Luke's chest, and it sits firmly and attaches well. However, if you take a look at the picture of Luke which shows him from the front, you'll notice the square on his chest. Needless to say that this is not aesthetically pleasing.
Skywalker's upper body looks too buff, it's not POTF2 bad, but still a bit too body-builder like. Another detail which Hasbro didn't pay attention to is the belt, which in the movie has some hooks, and a different color from the Jedi outfit. The belt buckle looks different as well.
All in all, there are lots of features on this Luke figure which Hasbro got right this time. For one, the head sculpt and the paint on the face are fantastic. It's also a super articulated figure which will give you enough freedom for different positions. However, the square on the chest, the incorrect belt, and the a bit too buff upper torso prevent this Jedi Luke from being the definite version. Despite the flaws, it can still be recommended, and is the best Jedi Luke figure available as of fall of 2009.
Luke boards the second Death Star during the Battle of Endor to face his father and the evil Emperor Palaptine, in a confrontation that determines the fate of all three. Young Skywalker calls upon his Jedi skills to save himself GÇö and his father.
