A limited number of sets were made available a few weeks after San Diego Comic Con through Hasbro's online store HasbroPulse.com
Anakin Skywalker came with a blue lightsaber, a non-ignited lightsaber hilt and an extra left hand
Both weapons fits well into Anakin's hands
The non-ignited lightsaber hilt can be plugged into a hole on the belt for storage
The additional left hand was sculpted with an open palm as if Anakin is using the Force
It's easy to exchange the hands, simply pull the one on the peg off and plug the other one on
Anakin Skywalker was sculpted beautifully, the proportions feel right, the head sculpt looks nice for a realistic interpretation of the cartoon character, the rip in the pants on the right leg or the torn sleeves, it all makes for a cool looking figure
The paint application looks nice on the figure and the outfit, but Anakin would have benefited from a slight wash on the outfit or some first on the boots
Details such as the food capsules and the belt buckle were painted, but on the other hand Anakin's non-ignited lightsaber has just a very plain looking gray as the base color (the hilt with the blue blade was given the silver treatment ...)
All in all, a great figure in cool slip-case Tartakovsky Clone Wars tribute packaging, make sure you add this one to your collections, it's pretty good! One thing worth noting about the packaging is that, while it certainly looks attractive, its nostalgic influences do not entirely align with the era of the Tartakovsky Clone Wars series. Saturday morning cartoons were a defining part of the 1980s and early 1990s, but by the time Star Wars: Clone Wars debuted in 2003 and continued into 2005, television viewing habits had changed considerably. The packaging also appears to draw inspiration from a VCR, even though VHS tapes and VCRs were already being phased out during this period. In fact, the Tartakovsky Clone Wars series was never released on VHS, with its home-video release going directly to DVD. So does the packaging make sense? We don't think so, but it looks cool nonetheless.
