Hasbro paid tribute to Kenner by releasing the 2013 Boba Fett Black Series figure again, but this time painted in original 1979 Kenner colors. You can find the original figure in the database here. The glossy foil packaging looked great too. Unfortunately this figure was hard to come by because it was exclusively sold at San Diego Comic Con 2019.
The packaging for this figure gave us the first look at the Empire Strikes Back 40th Anniversary logo for next year. If you'd like to learn more about this figure then have a look at the database entry please: Black Series Boba Fett.
This Black Series Dryden Vos figure was released in Spring 2019 and besides a brilliant head sculpt which looks like actor Paul Bettany, Hasbro implemented a temperature-changing feature on the head. The scars on the face will change color when the temperature changes (we took Dryden Vos and placed him into the freezer for 5 minutes and his scars lit up bright red when we took him out).
Cara Dune is one of our favorite new Star Wars characters from the Mandalorian TV series on Disney+. The figure turned out great and it came with a knife, a laser cannon and regular blaster.
The robe makes all the difference! Even though this figure was first released in 2015 (with no robe), having the added white robe hanging over the Snowtrooper looks pretty bad-a$$. The trooper is a Target exclusive and was available single boxed or in a Black Series Mystery Box.
The Black Series Mandalorian was released on Triple Force Friday, October 4, 2019. It sold out instantly and was very difficult if not impossible to find on store shelves leading up to the Holiday season. The figure is a great representation of the Mando from earlier episodes of season 1 of the Mandalorian TV series on Disney+. Add this figure to your collection, this is the way!
This figure came out during Spring 2019. It can be displayed as a regular trooper or as Han Solo with the mask and helmet off. You can learn more about this figure by checking out the full figure details here: Black Series Han Solo Mudtrooper.
C-3PO and Chewie made our #4 this year. 3PO can be broken apart into several different pieces and Chewie can carry him on his back without loosing his balance. We've seen several of those figures in the 3.75" line over the past 40+ years but this is Hasbro's first release for the Black Series 6" line.
This figure was first available at several different European comic conventions and was about one month later made available in the United States through the Fan Channel (Hasbro Pulse, GameStop/ThinkGeek, specialty comic book stores). Even though the figure is identical to the single boxed Luke Skywalker (Yavin Ceremony) figure, the accessories make this set unique.
Even if you are not into the comic book stories, this set made it possible to have a Luke Skywalker (Farmboy) wear a blast shield helmet and train with the Jedi Training Remote. The packaging presentation looks great as well.
The Heavy Infantry Mandalorian is the second figure released in the Black Series DELUXE line. This is a BIG figure which looks mighty cool on display. For all the figure information and a full photo gallery have a look at the database entry: Heavy Infantry Mandalorian.
The Amazon.com exclusive Black Series Emperor Palpatine set turned out beautifully and takes the J.B. top spot for 2019. There were three different heads included in the set, different hands with Force Lightning, the Emperor's throne with base, a cane and a beautifully executed soft-goods robe which had the hood sit on top of the head without a big gap.
If you were to purchase multiple of this set you could display the Emperor in different ways and use the included heads and hands to make the figures look quite different from one another.
So there you have it, our TOP 10 Black Series 6" figures from 2019. Honorable mentions go to Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Maul in Episode 1 toy line packaging to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Episode 1 3.75" toy line. Now, what were your favorite Black Series 6" figures in 2019?
