Listen to the GalacticFigures.com review

  • This R2-D2 figure was released on May 31, 2019 exclusively at Disneyland's Star Wars Galaxy's Edge park
  • The figure was part of a multipack titled DROID DEPOT which also included C-3PO, BB-8 and DJ R3X
  • Stories at Disneyland's Galaxy's Edge are set between Star Wars The Last Jedi and Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker
  • For this figure Hasbro re-used the R2-D2 mould which has been released four times in The Black Series 6" line so far: Black Series R2-D2 from 2013, Black Series R2-D2 from 2017 and Black Series R2-D2 from 2018
  • For this 2019 release of R2-D2 Hasbro gave our beloved astromech droid a different wash which makes this release unique
  • Even though the three panels in the top of the dome can be removed, there were no accessories included with the figure which could be plugged in
  • There are two arms which can manually be pulled out on the front of the body
  • R2-D2's dome can be rotated 360° which then moves the middle leg in and out of the body (it makes a clicking sound)
  • The two outside panels on R2-D2's legs can be opened but unfortunately Hasbro didn't include booster rockets with the figure so nothing can be plugged in
  • The bottoms of each foot has two wheels in it which helps to balance the droid out nicely
  • Unfortunately R2-D2 is too small in comparison with other 6" scaled figures and hopefully Hasbro will re-sculpt this droid in the near future

R2-D2 is a plucky and loyal Astromech droid that aids the Resistance in their conflict against the First Order and takes part in many of the momentous events in the galaxy.
