This R2-D2 figure was released in June 2024 single carded
The figure is a clean version of the previously released VC149 R2-D2 figure from 2019
The front of the packaging changed slightly while the back of the card is drastically different
The VC number 149 on the back of the card however was kept for this release, so that means there are two different versions on the market, the one from 2019 and this 2024 version, which share the same collector number
For this R2-D2 figure Hasbro used the popular build-a-droid sculpt which means the droid can be taken apart into several parts: the dome, 2 outer legs, 1 middle leg, 1 body
R2's dome can be rotated 360°
There are no hidden panels or gadgets built into the droid
The middle leg can be unplugged
All three feet have small wheels in the bottom so that the droid can be rolled around
The paint application looks fairly basic, but it matches the movie call-out on the packaging
R2-D2 stands very safely on display without any balancing issues
Considering that this droid sculpt is more than a decade old it holds up quite well
